As carry bags go, the real issue has to do with the lining. Many of today's grips are soft, tacky or in some cases just plain larger. Pulling clubs in or out of a bag with a poorly designed liner leads to problems. As evidence, the poll, the four way is the preferred opening. Designers shouldn't think that this is the most important consideration. Lots of other issues are out there. Hip padding, shoulder strap comfort, properly positioned storage, etc.

I actually prefer a 5-way or 6-way top

It is easier to keep the clubs organized and they don't bang around so much.

More separation the better. Add a putter well and it would be really nice

Fourteen way!... with full length deviders. This works the best.
I've tried them all.

I really think that what most of us die hard walkers are looking for is a sub- 4 lb ultralightweight bag with the 4-way top, waterproof pocket, cooler / waterbottle pocket. "Nice-to-have" features would be easy scorecard & pencil access (as on many cally bags, as well as an [easy] option to attach a single strap for when I'm taking a caddy.

The club organization is much better with 4 pockets. I also like having a separate sleeve for my putter in a bag, but that's another matter. Paul

I prefer the 4 way to seperate the clubs a little more so there is less "clanking" of the clubs while walking.

make it a 5 way and add the space for a putter
