I was playing in a Ryder Truck customer appreciation day at Rochester Golf Course in Rochester, Michigan
The format was a four team scramble. We hit our tee shots on a par 5 hole, best shot was mine down the middle, second shot was also mine leaving around 115 yards to the pin, as I recall. I recall standing in the fairway telling my team this green breaks left to right, so aim for the left front corner. My teammates all came up short, one golfer said do what you said. So I took my 9 iron out, took two practice swings, addressed the ball and hit in clean, its heading to my target area, suddenly a camera man comes out from behind the bushes, he is video taping this ball my ball landing on the green and following right into the cup. He congradulated me on my shot
I have it all recorded. At dinner that night the camera man playing his tape of the day, he suddenly stopped the machine and said "Please watch this shot I recorded by Mr. Colombo, from 115 yards for his eagle, and by the way it was his tee shot, his three wood and a nine iron. Everyone was enjoying the tape and kept requesting, play it again. After the dinner, was over I was given the tape and a dozen of Titleist balls. Whole truth and nothing but the truth.
  2. That would be a 7 iron over a stand if trees at a Tupelo Country Club (Tupelo MS) during a tournament playing with a customer. He asked if I was going “punch out safe laterally?” I told him “I’m going over”. He said “if you get over I’ll buy you a drink”. I replied “I’m going for the green”. He laughed and said he’d buy me a steak dinner if I hit the green. My shot landed on the green and checked up three - four feet from the cup and I made the putt. Later I married his cousin and he still talks about the greatest called shot he’s ever witnessed.

  4. It was Friday of Martin Luther King weekend at PineBrook #6 par 5, in Winston-Salem NC. After a nice drive into the wind, to the middle of the fairway it left 220 yds. to a narrow crowned green. A firmly struck 5 wood ( Titleist 903F2 of course) took one bounce and disappeared. After a 5 minute search it was found in the bottom of the hole for my only double eagle!! It was a GREAT weekend.

  6. About 15 years ago at a club nobody ever heard of. 4 man best ball, I was the last guy still in the hole. Under a tree in 2 next to the green on a par five with a one foot back swing. I just hit it as hard as I could with the one foot back swing. Scraped it up on the green somehow about 12 feet away and made that putt. We came in second with that miracle birdie.
  7. Hole in one on a 296 yd par 4 during a tournament. So far my only one but oh so memorable.
  8. In 2010 my only hole-in-one was at hole 6 at Brea Creek, 203 yard par 3 using a 4 hybrid. Was playing with my wife and one of my grandsons. I actually didn't see the ball go in the hole because the railing of a bridge over the creek that bisects the fairway obstructed my view. While I was scouring the area for my ball my grandson found it in the hole.
  9. My best shot was with the Titelist AVX golf ball. It was a hole in 1 at Chicora Golf Club in Erwin NC on February 9 2020. Witnessed by Jeff Thomas and Roland DiMuro. It was Hole #7 par three at 158 yards with a Titelist AP Iron.
  10. On a cold late fall day with frost on the ground at the Avalon Golf Course in Burlington Washington I stepped up to a 198 par 3. I was feeling cocky and told the guys with me I was going to hole it and described its flight. I am not that good, Just occasionally cocky, but this time it did exactly what I said it would. The boys were impressed, I was shocked.

I was playing Payne Stewart's course in Fullerton, California and having a lousy round when I got to the teebox of a par-three on the back nine. it was 177 yards, as I recall, and the Titleist irons were new to me and above my skill level, but I got out the 4-iron and somehow hit my ProV1x directly onto the green. It skipped a couple of times and rolled toward the pin and my playing partner, who was better than me, exclaimed "That could go in!" And it did, tumbling into the hole on its final roll. John yelled with happiness because he'd never seen an ace before. After the 18th, we went into the clubhouse where I was going to dutifully buy a round of drinks for everybody, but only the bartender was there, so I just paid for John's beer.

Was at Pinehills in Plymouth MA. Perfect early fall warm day.
I hit a pro v off the tee approximately 170 yards over some rough terrain. My ball landed 3 inches from the cup. I’ll take that anytime!
From that hole on my game was on fire that day.
  16. On September 11, 2001 the day the Twin Towers were attacked which also is my Birthday, I hit a six iron to a back pin 167 yards into the hole for a hole in one. It was on hole number four at Raveneaux Country Club in Houston, Texas.

Do you have a shot that stands out as the best you've ever hit? Fill in the blank and let us know by adding a reply below...

For me, the best shot I hit in recent memory with my Pro V1x was a 2-footer for par on the 18th hole of The Old Course. While the shot itself wasn't anything spectacular, the culmination of that magical experience will be hard to beat for me.

My best shot with the titleist ball was and 8 iron shot from below trees limbs and over a moat from 138 yards out for an eagle 2. I’m a 5 handicap 75 year old.
  18. Has to be my double eagle hole out on the par 5 10th hole at my home course, Chippewa Golf Club in Doylestown Ohio while playing with my son Nathan. Although I still play decent golf for an old guy and have a half dozen verified hole in ones, I had never made a 2 on a par 5. That changed in the summer of 2019 when, after a big drive, my 3 iron second shot with my Titleist Pro V found the bottom of the cup. It was a great feeling to finally accomplish this and it meant even more to do so while playing with my son.
  19. An Eagle (2) on Pinehurst #2 on hole #2. A 2 on 2 at 2!!
  20. After a slugger drive on a par five that rested at the side of a rock, I couldn't get at it with my 3 wood. So, i used my 3 iron, my favorite club, and hit a haymaker that cleared trees in front of the green and landed two feet from the cup. I white knuckled it into the cup for the only eagle in my life.
