This ball definitely has my attention. Unfortunately not available in my area, but I hope I can get my hands on a sleeve or two somehow.
  2. 4 holes in and so far so good. They seem longer. They feel good so far. Will post a review in a few hours.
  3. Played the new AVX today for the first time. As someone who's always wanted to play a yellow Pro V1, this is the answer. The optic yellow is very easy to see and the ball performed great. Maybe slightly longer than the Pro V1 but with a great feel on and around the greens.

I was in AZ ( Scottsdale ) today and was able to pick up a box of the new AVX. Waiting until I get back home to AL to see how they perform.

As far as play goes, todays round in AZ, I played part with a PV1 and the AVX and didn't notice much of a difference, but conditions aren't prime as AZ is in over-seeding season. Payed full PV1 prices (at a resort $$$$) and they were just put out on the shelf TODAY.

I'll try to post after I get a round in on the home course and 'known' conditions.

    looking forward to your feedback!
  6. Played one today at Galloway National in NJ. Love it. Especially on and around the green. Great feel. Distance as well. Looking forward to nationwide launch. This one will be a winner.

Any chance the ABC ball will make it to the Jersey Shore? Thanks.
    Play Well,

I played the white one and while it is a pretty good ball. It is not even close to the ball that the Pro V1 is. It will possibly be a new version of NXT, but can't see it ever getting tour exposure. Not near enough sin control. It performed great for me, but the Pro V is much better.

Is this ball already on the market? I haven't seen any in the pro shops or Dick's.

Availability of Titleist AVX is limited to a test market in participating golf shops in California, Arizona, and Florida.
  11. Was in Destin, FL last week and ran across the AVX in one of the pro shops. Tried a sleeve and now want more. Switched to Bridgestone B330RX a year ago because I hit them 10 yards longer than Pro V1. I hit the AVX as long as or longer than the Bridgestone. Hope the AVX makes the cut; chance for Titleist to get me back on the team.
  12. Played the new AVX on Saturday. I live in Florida and Edwin Watts Golf convinced me to purchase a box. I am glad they did. Played 18 holes with one ball. Normally play the NXT Tour S. The AVX is better. It has a lot of the characteristics of the Pro V's but it is definitely longer for those of us with slower swing speeds. It does have spin around the greens. I hit a tee shot thin on the last par 3, the ball landed on the green next to the hole and bounced/rolled only 4 feet. The NXT Tour S would have been 15 feet away with the same thin shot. The difference was a birdie instead of a par. I will play 9 holes tomorrow with the same ball and if it plays as well as Saturday, I will go back to Edwin Watts and pick up another dozen just in case this is a very limited production by Titleist.
  13. I live in Arizona and picked up a sleeve of these last weekend.
My impressions as a 10 handicap:
A noticeable difference in side spin off the tee. I hit low boring bullets all day long.
I've found some low compression "soft feel" balls are more difficult to control off short irons. The compression combined with a lower swing speed has me airmailing the occasional green with a 9 iron.
The AVX stays true to distance with the standard prov1.
That said, I wouldn't say it has the same "soft feel" as a chrome soft. The chrome can feel like a super ball from Chucky Cheese's prize bin at times.... The AVX gives satisfying feedback on a well struck shot without that "boing" effect. It's a matter of personal preference.
On irons and wedges, it seems to have a little less spin than the prov1. It holds a green nicely, but my sense is better players may want a little more workability. Mid-range handicappers could benefit from the low spin and control off the tee.
Distance? I don't notice a big difference here as compared with the pro v1 line. I did notice a difference in control. It's just a ball that wants to go straight.
Chips and putts? I think this ball wants to release a little more, but better players may prefer a ball that checks when they want it to.
Finally I think this is a ball that'll behave better in the wind. Both days I played in breezy conditions and the ball definitely held its line. Into a headwind, you lose distance, but a lack of sidespin keeps the ball from riding offline when you give it a little fade.
Bottom line, I feel like I have better control with this ball without sacrificing distance, feel or green-holding spin. Better players may prefer the versatility of the pro v, but this could be a game improvement ball for the mid-range handicapper still fighting the occasional wild drive.

Played the AVX this past Sunday at Westwood CC in St. Louis. Softer feel than Pro V1 (especially on and around the green) and a bit longer distance as well.
  15. Got a chance to play the ball this past week. It is a little softer than the pro line and long. It held greens fairly well. I am in Columbus Ohio and it was very wet from the recent storm. I am looking forward to getting out there on a dry day and see how it can really preform. Early signs are good though.
  16. Played the ball in sawgrass and was thrilled with distance but it spins less which meant straighter drives and was super soft! Incredible ball for those looking for straighter shots with soft feel... I am still happy with my ProV1 but there is definitely a market for this new premium ball...

One side note, I heard the Titleist golf ball pros describing the manufacturing process for the ball compared to competitors. It was suggested (and this point is often missed) that the paint in some cases can be off by the thickness of a human hair on many competitor balls which can translate into an errand drive when you did everything correct! Titleist spends more money and controls the manufacturing process at their own factories so this doesn’t happen.

As they say in commercials, the difference is Titleist!

Chris, when you played with us at TPC Sawgrass, how did wedge spin and driver distance compare to your favorite Pro V1?
  18. I live in NJ and play many NJSGA and USGA amateur events. Is there anyway I can get a sleeve of these balls to test out?
  19. Just got one dozen today. In Arizona. It is the same price as the Pro V1/V1x balls. I got the yellow. I will try them this Saturday and see if it is really a distance ball.

As a Team Titleist member, was hoping that these would be made available to members of the Titleist ball R&D team. Would appreciate the chance to check out the new product and provide feedback! Thanks!
  21. Would like to know what swing speed this ball is best suited for.

Anyone get the chance to hit the new AVX golf balls yet? If so what do you think?

I would LOVE to get my hands on some but we'll have to wait until the test period is over and see what the decision will be... Hearing good stuff so far...
