I finished my test and survey today. If you do your test it would be better to use the prototype and the ball you normally use. It will give an accurate test, which will eliminate memory. You will see what I am referring to when you do your survey. I liked the prototype but it is close to the PROV1X . I wish I was able to compare the two each hole during a round of golf. I may still do that although I nave completed the survey.

i got mine just a few days ago since i live in Hawai'i. Ball durability is is better . Didn't get many chances to hit my normal used ball and prototype on the same hole since it was club play except on the greens after putting out my original ball first. great feel off the putter.

LOVE the new prototype ball! Great around the greens, and very durable, played 18 holes, shot 78 and only used one ball!
Thank you Titleist!

After playing several rounds with the new prototype ball, it felt a bit harder than the Pro-V1's that I normally play. But the hardness was felt with the putter and not so much with irons or woods. The feel is well within acceptable parameters as I started to get used to it. (ie. not like Top Flight or Pinnacle balls... where you just can't get used to hitting a rock)
Positives.- Ball flies amazingly straight. (maybe I was just playing better?)- Long off the tee. (driver)- Cover does not scuff! Whoa! (stayed shiny throughout the round)- Good bite. Stops where it lands, but won't back up like the Pro-V's...
Negatives.- A little on the harder side (makes accurate putting distance a bit challenging... left everything short) - Distance is hard to gauge, but this is true on any new ball. (ie. do I hit a soft 7 or a hard 8? Draw it or hit a straight shot?)- Seems a tad shorter inside 150 yards. (not really a negative)
Very nice balls. Definitely will play these!

I played mine this weekend ... What a great opportunity. Course was softer than usual ... great ball.

You'll like the distance! unlike some long balls this one also has bite.

I would say the first two things I noticed was the added distance and added control I had from 100 yards and in. Played 4 rounds now with TEST balls (red numbers...assume is a V1x model) I compared the test balls to my current gamers B330 / V1x. Distance is equal as to the B330 and about 5-10 yards longer than the V1x off the driver. I really liked the ball flight though better on the TEST ball, I know it seems odd but I am feel player and that matters too me. Helps visualize the shot. Irons I would say also as long as the B330 and 3-4 yards over the V1x I have been gaming. Again ball flight was better to me. To me the real selling point was FEEL. the TEST ball just felt softer on all shots. Inside 100 yard were I might hit a 58 degree or my 9 iron it just felt way better than my current gamers. Off the putter it felt very soft and rolled true. I did switch from my Cameron to Pro Type odssey right when I started testing but it still felt better to me. Spin was excellent and much better over the B330 and V1x. Normally play to exact distances. typically can hold the ball within a foot or two of the divot....line that is a different story LOL. I noticed I was getting more spin back with test ball. (Good once you know, not so much when not expecting it LOL) I would say is more druable but I always felt the V1 line has been. It is more so over the B330 and in testing I would say even more so than the current V1x. Overall EXCELLENT ball. I hope the production model is exactly as I will stock up on them.

I felt like my test prov1x was a little spinny. Seemed like I was playing a prov1 off the driver and on some approaches. It was very durable and most differences to this years model were negligible, but with the exception of durability I felt this offering was similar or not quite as good as the current ball.

I was fortunate enough to be able to test them. Great ball!
Felt like it launched a bit higher and attained final height faster. I didn't notice any appreciable distance gain or loss. The cover felt a bit softer to the touch but the compression of the ball felt a touch firmer at times (feedback in the elbow, hard to say though if maybe I just missed the sweet spot some on those particular shots). Definitely had an explosive sort of feel off the driver and woods (again to the note on firmness) but a good whack and these shot off the face. Spin seemed a bit more on most shots although the ball seemed to fly straighter on drives that weren't of the best quality. I actually backed a wedge up a good 10 feet with these (although on soft greens) something I haven't done since switching to the new conforming grooves.
Overall, I was impressed. However, sadly after about 2.5 rounds of testing the last of them completed their move to a retirement community (aka the desert).

Put my prototype balls through a good testing today by playing two balls (old and the new prototype) on the course today. To me the new ball seems to have a little softer feeling core and cover. A little higher launch with all clubs and a little better stopping ability due to the higher flight. I did notice that it seemed a little more "bouncy" off the putter face which took a little getting used to but no big deal. Cover seemed to be a little more durable. Had no problem shaping the ball in any way I wanted. a slightly more muted sound off each club vs the current pro-v1 I'm playing now. Titleist continues to crank out good stuff. Happy to have been on the test panel and look forward to playing the ball in the future.

My last round, I played 3 balls. Prcpt Laddy (my preferred discount ball), Titleist Pro V1 and the prototype.
I preferred the feel of the prototype in every category. My drives launched higher, carried farther and rolled out! A bit more distance on my full swing irons, I always end up close to my pitch marks, just felt right. Feel and sound reminded me of balata.
Just the right amount of spin on my wedges and short shots. It was late in my practice round that I only wanted to use the prototype!
I am anxious to see where in the Titleist lineup this ball will be positioned. So far, this ball was made for me!

Well, my testing is complete. I love fall but what I love even more is playing a few rounds of golf with the newest Titleist prototypes! I found that the golf balls I received were comparable on distance but felt a little softer than my usual Pro V1x. The biggest difference for me was the additional spin and control I got on mid and long irons. I would say the ball also seemed more consistent for me all around (driver, irons, wedges, and putter).
I don't know if it was just something mental about playing these balls or all the good shots I hit with them along the way but I was putting lights out with the prototypes! Yesterday I carded 6 birdies (5 of them on the back nine) in route to a 71. The balls feel EXCELLENT on the short shots!
Thank you Team Titleist for including amateurs in the R&D process. I feel honored to be a part of the opportunity.

I was able to play 36 holes with these new protoypes, and I have to say that I truly enjoyed this ball.
My drives were consistently about 10 yards further than the other 2 balls I was playing, Srizon Z-star and NXT Tour.
The ball just plain out felt GOOD. My putter seemed a little bit hot off the face, but I also recently changed putters, so that could be an impact. I'll get to the practice green with them again this week and try to level out that statement. Irons sat really, probably due to a little higher ball flight from these prototypes than the other two I was playing.
I took down quite a few specific notes, and am hopeful that I get a follow-up link from Titleist to share my findings via survey, etc.
All in all, I really enjoyed the feel, little higher trajectory (i'm typically a pretty mid-low ball hitter), and boy did they roll good on the greens.
Thank you Titleist for allowing me to be a part of this test panel. I'm very appreciative that you take in mind all skill levels and abilities in your trials. Kudos to you. This is just one of the reasons that I've played Titleist clubs/balls since I was old enough to know best.
Til next time...

Spent all yesterday afternoon testing out the test golf balls sent to me by Titleist. Can honestly say that it was a lot of fun feeling the differences and seeing the results of the performance of the prototype ball vs. the current Pro V1x ball I play.
Felt fantastic and the greenside control and spin was great and the launch and penetrating ball flight on knock down/ punch shots was perfect.
Always appreciate the opportunity to give feedback and know that Titleist values the opinions of amateurs as well as professionals.

DID ANYONE, EVEN NON TITLEIST FANS, EXPECT THE LEADER IN GOLF BALLS TO SEND THEM SOMETHING THAT WAS INFERIOR IN ANY WAY?.
TITLEIST HAS NOT GAINED THEIR ACCEPTANCE AS "THE STANDARD" NOR ACHIEVED THEIR MARKET POSITION BY MAKING, SELLING OR EVEN ALLOWING ANYTHING OF INFERIOR QUALITY TO BEAR THE "TITLEIST" LABEL.
I HAVE PLAYED THE GAME FOR 70+ YEARS AND NEVER KNOWN TITLEIST OR ITS PARENT-ACUSHNET CO TO PRODUCE ANYTHING THAT WAS NOT FIRST RATE.

Thanks for giving me another opportunity to test a new set of Titliest, protoype balls. Played them today at Hawks Nest GC, in Creston, OH. It was a sunny day, in the mid 70's all afternoon. I completed the survey questions, as soon as I returned home.

Tested these balls out in the wind today and they were great. Felt so good...Titleist does it again!

Thanks to Titleist for permitting me the opportunity and honor to again test their protype golf balls. Glad they sent them to me in early September to give me time to test them before the weather in Western Pennsylvania gets too cold and/or wet.
My main comment about the balls are they seemed to play "harder" than my Pro V1x balls. Great control on approach shots and around green, and putting was true.

The cover was amazing. I could not scuff this ball. Performance was similar to the pro v1x. I noticed slight less grab on short chips. Because I was playing in soft conditions, the ball did not run.. Pretty much stopped within 1-12" from where it landed on the green.

I just played the prototype and had my best round of the year! This ball will go where you want it to go, even on mishits...

I have played 3 rounds with the new test balls and must say that I was impressed with the ball flight with my driver and the carry flight added an additional 5 to 8 yards. The feel of the balls were great with the short irons and wedges and provided exceptional spin and control on the greens. I have always used Prov-1balls and occasionally the Prov-1x and really enjoyed these test balls. Thank you Titleist for allowing me the opportunity to try them out.

Did anyone else get two sleeves of the test balls, one red numbered and the other black numbered

I'm sure it's just a random selection. Make sure your profile is complete, and up to date.
Survey taken and reported. The test ball wins hand-down over the TM Lethals I have been playing. The Lethal is a great ball, but the prototype was more forgiving, went farther and was easier to control on the short game.
Sure would love to find out what the test ball was and if it makes it into production.
David Lfort collins, CO
Would love to test these! Interested to see the workabilty, which is always good with pro v's, and durability of the prototypes. Switched from the pro v1 to the x and it has taken a couple strokes off my game. Thanks for everything Titleist! Can't wait for the 915!
