I would take my 3 hybrid out of the bag, and add in a 2 iron. I'd then flight the ball low to combat the heavy winds, a lot of knockdown shots and bump and runs!

I think I would just try to flight the ball lower.I like the set up I have.I can hit my 915's high or low so strategy would be important.

I would be working in my punch shots as well as lag putting and bunker shots!

To start, I'd get a local caddy, and follow his/her instructions to the letter. I have a high trajectory so I'd dial down the Surefit adapters on my 913D2 and 913F 3 wood. I'd also need to play the ball back in my stance and swing with a 3/4 backswing to flight my irons and wedges down. Seems like putting from the fringe/off the green is a good approach to take too. Great contest!

I would use wedges with less bounce given the tight and firm surfaces. That would mean changing my vokey 60 deg for one with less bounce. Maybe use the TVD 56 deg that I have in my bag more frequently. These wedges allow for opening the club-face and having the club sit nicely so there remains limited bounce at address/impact.
  6. My club set up would not change very much, but I would hit fewer drivers and more 3 woods/hybrids. I would hit more bump and runs with 8 and 9, with lots of practice on the punch shot before I play. My putter would also see a lost more use off the green.

Harder and dryer conditions with more wind will mean hitting the ball lower, allowing for more roll and don't do anything Stupid. Take your pars where you need to and go for the birdies when you can!
  8. I would work on swinging easy to ensure solid contact and work on my putting from 30 yards away.

If I was ever lucky enough to play in The Open, I would play the pro v1X to keep the spin down, and lose my vokey 50 and add a 716 2 iron for the wind. And use my 716 7 iron for the bump and run needed.

Play my ProV1 back in my stance and add a club to keep the ball down in the wind.

Would definitely switch to a "K" grind low bounce Vokey and add a T-MB 2-iron for driving. Definitely make a spot of tea to drink out of that classy-looking Titleist mug! Great contest.

I would definitely have to learn how to play the ball with a lower trajectory and would need to learn to have a lot of patience with the "bad" breaks that are possible with good shots. Something else to consider would be to account for all the roll that you would get
  13. Hit a lot more knockdown shots, use more bump and runs, and use the putter from much further off the green than normal

Keep the ball as low as possible, knock down shots everywhere and putt from way off the greens if need be. Also keep my wedge grooves as sharp as possible with new wedges and spin that ball when need be!!!!!!

Most of all have tons of patience as all the field will be in the same boat as I am in.
  15. I would play the ball further back in my stance and use more of a knock down flight to adjust to wind conditions
  16. I would lower loft on my woods (as well as driver)unless the weather conditions are calm(unlikely). Very important to keep your nerves in check and trust your equipment.
  17. 1) Try to keep the ball low
    2) Pack extra balls

I would remove my driver . I carry a 712 U #2 and a full set of MB irons 3-P . Those Blades would feel like butter knives in Troon

Same club setup but change the strategy a bit. More bump and run into the greens. Hire a good caddie!
