Has anyone got good advice for wedge fitting? I'm booked in for Thursday and have never had a wedge fitting before, I've always bought and played with wedges I simply just like the aesthetics of - currently using Scratch but due to my new found love for all things Titleist I plan to have a black set of SM6

The fitting is at a Titleist dealer but will be from hitting off a Mat? Does this matter? Will be using a Trackman for yardages etc?

I'm keen to find the correct grind and bounce... Never before have I taken much notice of these things!

    Any help appreciated!

Don't worry! I know no replies but I moved the fitting forward and am now awaiting the arrival of 3 custom fit black SM6 wedges! cannot wait!

Used a Trackman and found the right setup in terms of yardages and then did some work on selecting the right bounce and grind.... Really interesting and really recommend it over self selecting your wedges!

Part of the grind selection is how your swing interacts with turf and sand. Mats have a tendency to launch higher than from a soft soil condition Make sure you can talk to your fitter about your typical playing conditions and take that into account in your fitting

I know this is a day late and a dollar short, but in addition to turf interaction (for grind selection) and loft gapping - another thing to consider is versatility in terms of being able to open the face - some grinds are better for this as they offer some sole relief.

Glad you liked your fitting. The SM6's are awesome, and fitting is always the way to go. I never knew about bounce or grind until I got fit. It's made a huge difference in my game. I hope you have the same results.
  6. Chris brings in a great point...I agree that turf (not mat) interaction is very important and loft gapping are key!

I also like Josh's point about bounce/grind which is part of the interaction with turf and I would agree has made a big difference in my wedge game as well!

    Good Luck!

I have an appointment this Thursday for a wedge fitting. I can't wait to find out if what I think I need is actually what I really need. Currently playing SM5's in 52 & 58 but entertaining the idea of carrying more wedges this year.
