Heading to Hilton Head soon and need a few courses to play while there. Anyone recently play Harbor Town? Are caddies included in the green fees? Forecaddies? Carts? Thanks

I played Atlantic Dunes and the Golden Bear Golf Club last summer. Both were great courses. Harbour Town does give you a fore caddie but you will need to tip them. www.seapines.com has info for you. Robert Trent Jones course in Palmetto Dunes and Heron Point in Seapines are a couple we are playing this summer. Oyster Reef was highly recommended by a bartender friend of ours from down there.
  3. Haven’t played Harbor Town, but I’ve played Palmetto Dunes and Palmetto Hall. Can’t go wrong with either. Golden Bear is ok at best and Heron Bay is a pretty good course.

Played last summer. Forecaddie is automatically assigned to a group and an expected $40 tip per person is expected. Push carts or motorized carts are also included.

Harbour Towne and Atlantic Dunes (Davis Love III design) are tops in my book. Played HT 3x, each forecaddie was terrific and very helpful (earned every bit of their tip). Heron Point (Pete Dye) is a nice track but it plays slow for some reason. The Arthur Hills course at Palmetto Dunes is another good option.

I have visited often, Harbour Town is great (my golf buddy is a member) but once I have played it once or twice I am good going forward unless I get a very low price to play. Atlantic Dunes and the other course at Sea Pines are ok. The course I gravitate towards mostly is Oyster Reef on the north end of the island. It is not in the condition of Harbour Town but the design is good and the staff are very friendly plus the cost is reasonable. Port Royal (both courses) are nice but more on the shorter side in terms of length, however with my wife it is fun. Shipyard is a disaster normally so skip it and Palmetto Dunes courses are good but pricey. While you are there try going to happy hour at FishCamp or next door at Up The Creek, they both offer food.

Lots of good golf off the island in Blufton such as Belfair if you can get on. They host lots of top amateur tournaments including the CPC amongst others. Also, big Titleist operation.

    Cheers! Have fun!!

Chris has made some great recommendations. I would ditto those. After hours cannot beat this local hang out at the entrance to Sea Pines. Reilly's Bar and Grill (excellent prime rib), plus two other eateries In the triangle on the left. Good food, fun and service. Just talked to a bud who lives outside Sea Pines and is a member of Sea Pines Country Club. He recommended Hilton Head Plantation which is semi private and Fazio Course at Palmetto Dunes. Some places to eat and drink: Ombras (Italian), Alfred's (German). The following on sea pines - Quarterdeck, British Open Pub (good steaks), Salty Dog.

He said it will start getting busy in Mid April.

Chris and Chuck made some very solid recommendations for Hilton Head. I want to second Chris on playing Oyster Reef. The course if a fun layout that is challenging without beating your brains in. Palmetto Hall Plantation is another place that is worth checking out. 2 courses and they have done some solid work on the course the last couple of years.

Hilton Head has a lot of good choices for food. I will just drop a couple for you.
Hudson's - fresh seafood, on the water, great sunset views
    Nunzio - Italian
BBQ - One Hot Mama's or The Smokehouse

Have a good trip and Play well.

If anyone will be in the HHI area July 13-20 I'm playing all 3 courses at Palmetto Dunes that week. Just set up tee times. Playing by myself all 3 days. A buddy of mine that was going to go can't make it now. Be nice to hook up and play with a fellow TT member. Fazio course 7/15 11:04, Hills course 7/17 11:04 and RTJ 7/19 11:07. The other 3 spots are available each day as of this morning.
