The Monterey Bay Aquarium is one of the best ranked in the US. Amazing if you want to get away from golf for a day.

Have played the Pacific Grove Golf Links (Municipal) a few times when visiting that area and the back nine is well worth your time. Love the Monterey, Carmel area. So peaceful and quite.

The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.

Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.

A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

If you're talking golf, check out the Black Horse and Bayonet courses. They are located on a formal military base and have hosted pro tournaments in the past. They're not on the coast but there are nice views of Monterey Bay if there is no fog.

Lastly, make the drive north to Santa Cruz and play Pasatiempo; it's a classic Dr Alister Mackenzie designed course and you can see his former house off the 6th fairway. The course hosts the Western Intercollegiate and Titleist staffer and new PGAT member, Joe Highsmith, is a past champion.

Play Poppy Hills and Aquarium.... Walk and shop the Downtown area of PB,

Poppy Hills is a better course than Spanish Bay, I’d always recommend it.
