As part of a family trip, I was in Rome recently and took the opportunity to play Marco Simone. They're well into their Ryder Cup preparations, stands are going up, construction on the roads leading in/out of the club.
The course is in fantastic condition, very challenging holes. If you miss the fairway even by a few feet, your ball is gone. I lost 9 over the course of my round, I haven't lost 9 in probably the last 3 months playing 2-3 times per week. It's definitely set up to favor the European style of player.
I played with rentals which were decent, but not Titleist. Couldn't get an iron shot on line to save my life. Here are a few pictures, that's my son coming off the green. The staff there is great, the range leaves a bit to be desired though.
