Make it up to Scottsdale and there's TPC which is fantastic as well as Troon North... and then about an hour away is Dinosaur Valley I think... Great golf all around!

As one of the golf capitals of the US, there are tons of courses out here. Scroll down and you will find past discussions with some options but it would help if you narrow down your specifics a bit. What part of town (Phoenix is a very large metroplex)? What is your price range (high end courses like TPC Scottsdale are not cheap)? Are you looking for the most popular or hidden gems? What time of the year (weather, overseeding, etc.)? Private reciprocal or public only courses? As you can see, many factors to consider before giving out an educated recommendation. Was in Phoenix in January. Played Grand Canyon University GC and Papago (ASU’s Home Course). Both great tracks especially Papago, the range as well as the course has beautiful scenery

We-Ko-Pa is my favorite. They have 2 courses and both are fantastic. I think it's about 40 minutes east of Phoenix depending on traffic

Wo-Ko-Pa is great. Played there a few years ago!

Agreed every time I am there visiting family I sneak out to We Ko pa

I grew up in Phoenix and have played soooo many courses there. The courses I'm going to share with you are more of a muni style sprinkled with a few extra nice courses and very affordable but still fun and in great shape. A lot has changed over the years but my favorites remain the following courses:

-Gold Canyon Dinosaur Mountain (Base of the Superstition Mountains and my #1 fav course in AZ)
-Encanto 18 hole course (my high school home course)
-Arizona Traditions (way out west of Phoenix)
-The Foothills (Ahwatukee area)
-The Legacy Golf Club (South Phoenix)
-Superstition Springs Golf Club (East Valley)

Enjoy it, if you have the dough, I would say don't miss Gold Canyon Dinosaur Mountain!

The place is overrun with "good courses".
Every year my wife and I take a week after tax season (she's an accountant) at Hyatt Gainey Ranch. Being a guest at the Hyatt we get to play Gainey Ranch and think it's the greatest. We always play 3 or 4 days there, and try to squeeze in one round at a nearby course (so many to choose from). This year we plan on hitting Starfire. Heard a lot of great things about it.
Green fees aren't the greatest, unless you wait til June, but if you enjoy golf, you'll have a great time.

All the courses already mentioned are great but I’ll add The Boulders in Carefree (just North of Phoenix). Troon managed, North and South courses are worth the drive…

My wife and I were out there a couple years ago and stayed at The Boulders. Place is great and courses were amazing. We also went off and played Quintero which was definitely in my top 10 courses played.

Love the Short Course at Mountain Shadows. I little pricey, but fun - and lunch on the patio is worth it!

Best Public Courses in the Valley IMO:
- WeKoPa Saguaro
- Talking Stick O'odham
- Ak-Chin Southern Dunes
- Eagle Mountain
- TPC

Would love to play more desert golf. In February 2020 we went to the Waste Management and stayed in the Tempe area. We played Arizona Grand and I thought it was a nice track. The 18th has amazing panaromic views of Tempe and Downton Phoenix. If I remember correctly $85-$100 for the round

You're going to have a hard time finding anything in that price range in Phoenix/Scottsdale in Feb. which is actually the highest priced and busiest month for golf in the area.
To keep your price per round less than $250-300 I recommend WeKoPa (discounts if you stay at their hotel/casino), AkChin Southern Dunes, TPC Champions Course, Papago, Eagle Mtn, Raven, Lookout Mtn at Tapatio Cliffs resort (may get a discount staying at the resort). Use GolfNow to keep $ down. Personally, I thing the AZ Grand course is "fun" but nowhere in the same class as any of the above.
