    Greetings all,

We have another annual work meeting in Scottsdale in January. We played the Stadium Course last year and loved it. Looking for something a little different this year, maybe Gray Hawk? Any other recommendations?

    Thanks,

Quintero and We-Ko-Pa seem to get high marks over and over again. Looking forward to testing them out myself after I move to the Phoenix area.

When you move there you can organize TT local events. Give you something to do. Work is a fore letter word. Hakuna matata. Remember, you have to go to S Africa first. Cheers, pal.

I hope you join a club. Daily fee golf is very spendy down there during the winter, fall and spring.

Ha Ha. Yes, the plan is to set up shop in one of the adult communities like Sun City West or Sun City Grand and play regularly from there. Branch out occasionally to the better courses as opportunities arise. Growing up and spending most of my life in Texas, I know how to play in the heat. I have done a lot of summer golf in Palm Springs too so catching the high-end courses in the summer mornings is not a problem for me.

There is great golf in the West valley and if you end up in Sun City make sure you get your own golf cart.

If you're willing to drive I think Quintero is the nice public course in the Phoenix area. I would also say Legend Trail Golf Club in North Scottsdale is an excellent course as well.

    Thanks,

I played Raptor and felt like it lacked character. I was told later that the back nine had been changed and not for the better. I liked Troon North more. We-ko-pa was good and what somebody from Oregon like me would think of as a desert course. Terrific scenery.
  9. The TPC Champions Course (next door to the stadium course) is a nice compliment.

Troon North, Gray Hawk, Tatum Ranch are some others good ones nearby....

There are so many good courses you may need to just play around, and by the way if you stay at the Phoenician their course is good also...

    Cheers, Chris

This guy would know. He played on the Arizona State golf team and makes regular trips out there every year.

    Good day all,

Thank you so much for all of the suggestions, this is truly the best golfing community anywhere. I think we are going to go with the Grayhawk Raptor course. I am really looking forward to it!

I lived in the Phoenix area for years until moving to Colorado a few years ago. My suggestions depend on how far you are willing to travel.

If you want to venture out a bit, Quintero and Wickenburg Ranch are amazing!

Grayhawk is fun but there are better courses in my opinion. We Ko Pa is a lot of fun too and I personally prefer the Cholla course. Papago is the new home of ASU golf. Fun course too.
  13. Sorry for chiming in a little late but I go to Scottsdale at least a couple times year for the past 30 years and consider myself a bit of an expert on the area. LOL
Here would be my go to list:
Troon North both courses are excellent
Grayhawk, I prefer the Talon course especially since the Raptor renovation
    Quintero
    We-Ko-Pa, both courses are fantastic
    TPC Scottsdale Stadium
Southern Dunes in Maricopa is another great choice although a bit of a drive
There are so many great choices throughout the valley.
I will also say that Grayhawk has the best ambiance and service, very casual doesn't feel like an up-scale course
    Have a great time!!

My vote would be The Boulders in Carefree, either North or South course. Rustic but always in terrific shape! Views are terrific!

I can attest to playing We-Ko-Pa golf course - both worth playing and then gambling at night!

    Good day all,

We ended up playing Troon North (Monument Course). My manager had it on his bucket list, so we wanted to accommodate his wishes. The course was awesome with beautiful scenery and the people were very friendly. It was a bit chilly, but a good time was had by all. It made taking the red eye home worth it.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I will revisit this thread next year!

Have fun! Played the stadium course (which was the best) both Greyhawk courses (very hard) and both WeKoPa (both were amazing!) definitely have the best Arizona views. Highly recommend We-Ko-Pa!
