Well it's been a while since I've been on here and hope everyone is doing well. It was good to catch up on some of the posts.

Just wanted to share my experience on a trip to Ireland back in May. We booked this 2 years ago, rebooked 4 times and was finally able to go and it didn't disappoint at all. Ireland is truly one of the best countries I've ever visited. The golf courses I got to play were unreal but it's the people and the surrounding that really caught my eyes. Absolutely LOVE everything about Ireland and would go back again in a heart beat.

We flew in Dublin, stayed a night, 4 nights in Tralee and 3 nights in Lahinch. We played Dingle Links, Ballybunion Old course, Tralee, Dooks, Doonbeg and Lahinch. One day we had solid weather, sunny, 60 something degrees with light winds. My buddy actually got a sun burn, who knew of all places you can get burnt in Ireland. And that was it. Rest of the week was cloudy, showers here and there and sustained winds of 25-35 mph. And LOVED IT ALL. We had caddies 4 of the 6 rounds and every caddy we had was unique and just so much fun to be around. Each course was different, each course kicked my butt, each course put a gigantic smile on my face. I LOVED IT! I embraced the challenge and enjoyed every minute of it. It's definitely a different game out there and definitely makes you appreciate the game a heck of a lot more. There is NOTHING in the U.S. that comes close to being a "links" course. NADA.

Here are some pics, I have a ton but some of my favorite ones. HIGHLY recommend going not just for the golf but the people, the culture, the pubs, the live music and I could go on. Just an amazing country...

Glad you had a great trip Speedy! You need to go to Scotland, the people are just as friendly and welcoming and the golf is fantastic. Just be sure to pack for all 4 seasons.

Excellent! Welcome back Speedy. You played a bunch of great ones that I missed in April. I loved Dublin too. Hope to get back a few more times before this old body breaks down completely. Thanks for sharing!

This is great to know you had a wonderful time. Great Courses you played. Memories for a lifetime. I'm sure you have some great stories to tell. I would be happy to hear some of them when you get the opportunity. Ireland has always been my favorite place to play overseas. Terrific courses.....wonderful people!!

Awesome, Speedy. Brings back some great memories. We played three that you played: Dooks, Ballybunion and Dingle Bay while we were there. Dingle Bay was so much fun. We stayed in a B&B in Kelarney and also played Waterville and Kelarney Golf and Fish Golf Course. Do not think you can go wrong with any courses in Ireland. What a beautiful country. The landscape was something to behold as we drove thru the countryside and then along the sea to our daily destinations. The food was the best and the people, so friendly and accommodating. I imagine that our trip to Streamsong in September will provide some similarities in conditions. Congratulations on your trip and experience. Doubt that I will get to go back. My body has finally broken down, as Dale put it. These boots ain't made for walkin' no mo. =)

Wife and I both have Irish fore-bearers. Mixed in golf and Geneology. Was on the west coast for 2 Fridays. Only thing better than golf was the bar hopping on those evenings in small towns. “Everyone” is Irish ️ then. Would love to go back.

The Guinness beer in a pint on tap tastes so much better in Ireland. It really does tastes different. When we were there, if a restaurant did not serve beer the waiter would go to the nearest bar and get it for us and bring it back.
    Now that is hospitality!!!!!!!!!
  9. Awesome. Ireland is on my bucket list. We took a trip to Scotland in 2019 and it was outstanding. I highly recommend to anyone. Played The Old Course and Castle Course at St. Andrews, Castle Stuart, Royal Dornoch, Muirfield and Carnoustie.

@Speedy, thanks for the great description of your Ireland trip. A friend of mine is looking at setting up a trip and I was wondering how you went about planning. Did you go through a tour company, or did you make arrangements yourself? Any suggestions you would give to someone putting together a trip like yours? TIA
