Being a resident in Michigan, just curious how many of you have been to Michigan to play before, and where you have visited? Michigan is home to many great courses and resorts, including Forest Dunes, which also has the Loop Course. Last summer we may the trip to the Upper Peninsula and played four great courses, including Greywalls in Marquette. Course has a beautiful layout, with the first tee sharing views out to Lake Superior. We are closing in on the season opening in the lower part of the state, and if you've never had a chance to play in Michigan, this summer is a great chance to see what the Great Lake State has to offer!

  2. You are definitely right about the golf in michigan
We do have some great golf venues
    For all playing levels

Just curious, do you have a favorite in Michigan that you've played? Last summer during the trip to the UP, Sweetgrass and Greywalls were great courses. We also played Sage Run and Timberstone while we were there, and they were both nice as well.

I am originally from Marquette, now living in Wisconsin, and was a member at Marquette Country Club (Greywalls and Heritage). The Heritage course doesn't receive the fanfare of Greywalls but does offer some spectacular teeing areas with elevation changes, particularly on the back 9. I'd recommend making time to play both courses if you happen to make the trip again. Sweetgrass is another great course. I haven't had the opportunity to play Sage Run yet.

There are a number of unique courses in the surrounding communities George Young Golf Course (Iron River) Indian Lake Golf Course (Manistique) Wawonowin Country Club (Ishpeming) just to name a few.
  5. A good friend of mine from Missouri goes to Michigan for a week every summer to play golf. He has invited us to go with his family, but I can't seem to talk my wife into a Golf trip in Michigan over Florida.... maybe someday lol

If you can make it up here in June, it is perfect! Arcadia Bluffs is located on Lake Michigan, beautiful views all around. And swimming in the great lakes is just as beautiful as the Atlantic, just without the worries of sharks.
  7. Good selling point about the sharks lol... I'll give it a shot!

I've played the Bluffs and South courses at Arcadia Bluffs and Harbor Shores two years ago. Enjoyed both venues. We stayed in the Lodge at Arcadia Bluffs and it was an incredible experience.

I try not to spend any money in Michigan, joking! I have good friends in Westerm Michigan and am hoping to play American Dunes this summer

That a whole quadrant of the country that I have never been to. The wife has it her head to take a summer trip and stay in a lake house, so maybe I can sneak away for a day then.

I moved away from Michigan in November 2005, but while I was in school, I loved playing our courses at Oakland University: Katke-Cousins and R&S Sharf. Beautiful views of Meadowbrook Hall. For those who live in SE Michigan.

Arcadia Bluffs is on my list for the next family trip up there since we have a bunch of family up that way!

I work at Meadowbrook during the summer for concerts, but have not had an opportunity to play any of the university courses there. Hopefully you get a chance to come back up to play Arcadia. I've not played it, but the lake views are second to none in the state.

I live in Wisconsin and have enjoyed many of the very good courses we have here, but have always wanted to head over to the other side of Lake Michigan to check it out.
  14. Don't sleep on the courses in the Lansing area, either. Eagle Eye in Bath has an exact replica of 17 at Sawgrass and for me, it's not even the most memorable hole on that course. Hawk Hollow across the street is also a gem.
