So i did get to play Payne’s Valley on Monday. i booked a 2:10 tee time for the twilight rate with the extra hour now. I got there early around 11 am, thinking i would get enough time to hit balls, well due to the amount of rain from all day/night Sunday the range was closed. so i waited around for a while did a little putting shopped in the clubhouse, some nice footjoy apparel. well the starter said it’s a little less windy down in the valley, he was wrong, lol. they had the Tiger tees at 73+, then 68+, 61+, got paired up with 3 other singles and the one wanted to do the 68 so we all played from there. The wind made it play a lot longer. Shot pretty well, some lackadaisical efforts around the green thou and i believe i hit water on all the par-3’s, including the 19th, which this day was playing only 93 yards. the best part was driving up and around and thru the caverns after the hole, think it took roughly 10 minutes just to drive thru there. the grass was dormant and the greens were about 7.5-8 according to the starter. one par-5 on the front i hit a beautiful drive, about 225 to the hole downwind, topped my hybrid to about 195, then hit the most beautiful 5-iron i ever hit, proceeded to miss the birdie and par putt and ended up with a bogey, lol. The 19th hole, if you make a hole-in-one you would get a $1000 bass pro shop gc. the first one happened on tuesday.
