Thinking of going to SandValley last week in May. Is that a good time of year to go? Will the courses be back after winter by then? And any other info would be much appreciated. Thanks Jim

We went May 3 - 5 to catch the discount rates. I believe it was only the second weekend they had been open this year. We had great weather. Sunny, light jackets, highs in the low 60's. We heard that the next weekend they were shut down due to snow. The courses were excellent, no problem with greens or fairways. Definitely a "must do" trip just be prepared for any type of weather in May.

Weather at that time of year should be decent. WE can still experience a bit of a cold spell at that time of year, but just check the weather and pack appropriately.

The only other piece of advice I can add is don't skip out on the ice cream sandwiches at Craig's Porch.

The courses are all very playable and extremely fun. Nice generous fairways off the tee.

I give the ice cream sandwiches a thumbs up. The tacos are good too. I don't know about the others but coming from California I was pleasantly surprised at the prices for the food items at Craig's Porch.

    Layers.
If the wind is out of the north, you’re going to need them.
If the wind is out of the South, you’ll take them off.
Definitely play the 17 hole par3 course: the sand box, potentially the most fun you’ll ever have playing golf.

    Dale,
You indicated no problem with the greens and fairways during the time you were there. The greens and fairways weren't thin? Plenty of grass all thru out the course?

No, not a problem at all. With the sandy soil base out there, it plays a lot like Bandon. Firm fairways and greens. It wasn't real green as the snow had probably only recently melted off but we play Bandon in December when the frost can keep the fairways looking a bit brown there too. If you can scroll back a ways on the TT Facebook post, there should be some pictures I posted from 3-5 May, 2019. I think the biggest issue with the spring date is the chance for a late cold front. Days you might not even be able to play. Probably better odds that the Fall season will be better weather. Locals can make last-minute plans for the spring as its much more flexible without locked-in airfare.
