The Chasing Scratch podcast has been mentioned a handful of times here now. As an avid golfer myself, I've been listening to the podcast for the past year after another avid golf buddy turned me on to it.

As you probably guessed from the name, the podcast is about two guys in their 30s, Mike and Eli, on a quest to become scratch golfers. They started as 12-ish handicaps about 2 years ago and have admirably shaved their indexes down in the 3s.

Throughout their journey, they have leaned on a variety of instructors, mental coaches, fitness experts, and whoever else they thought could help them achieve their goal. Though they were fit for a few clubs here and there (Come on, Rick!) we thought a visit to the Titleist Performance Institute would ensure they are not leaving any performance on the table when it comes to equipment.

Mike and Eli were kind enough to visit us in the spring and documented their experience in the following episode. If you have ever wondered if your game is good enough for a fitting, or what it’s like visiting Titleist’s premier fitting facility, I strongly encourage you to have a listen: iTunes, Spotify, Web Version

You can also keep up with their journey on Twitter and/or their new Instagram account.

    Enjoy!

Listened to the newest episode of chasing scratch today and Allan B makes an appearance, he tells a pretty cool story regarding a Titleist fitting he went to. Pretty cool story to hear and makes me believe that Titleist truly does just want people to be better golfers. If you havnt heard of the podcast chasing Scratch, I recommend checking it out. Its about Mike and Eli, who are two mid 30's guys trying to get to scratch handicaps.

One big take away from the episode: I need to get fitted...

Just gave it a listen and it offered some great insight into the fitting process at TPI. This is similar to all the fitting experiences I’ve had with Titleist in the past. The Bob Vokey pop in was amazing and brought back some fond memories of fitting with him.

Many thanks to Allan and Corey for their time in making this happen. This podcast really showcases why Titleist is a leader in the industry, it starts with the people and their passion and ends with the products.

Crazy how low single digits can feel unworthy and nervous about a good fitting. I get it, but I wish golfers only knew how friendly and inviting the experience is.

    Appreciate the kind words!

I was in Aviara a couple of weeks ago. I should have dropped by.

I’m going to have to go check this out. I’m a huge believer in the fitting process. I’ve never had the opportunity to do a fitting with Titleist but I hope to one day. I literally tell everybody who plays with me or wants to get into golf to do a fitting. Not only do you maximize the potential with the technology today, I also think you feel you have more of a connection with your clubs because they are fit solely to you and your swing. I’ll never buy another club if it’s not fit to me. Thanks again for sharing this podcast with us, Allan.
  7. Fitting at tpi in oceanside was phenomenal.facility was all class.you're treated like a king .my fitter,Lucas bro, was very knowledgeable. Hope to experience this fitting again in the near future.

I totally agree with Gary L's comments above. I participated in the Wedge fitting a couple of years ago with Lucas Bro and he was great. We went through several grinds, lofts and shafts. I was surprised by needing a lie that was one degree flat but he was right on with that assessment. Super friendly and knowledgeable. The facility is amazing. Would recommend it to anyone.

This is great, not only a wonderful walkthrough on what I hope to do one day, but also as I am trying to work my way back from a 13 down to my younger playing days handicap around a 5/6 (or maybe now I should just go for scratch!)

Thank you for sharing this wonderful podcast. I am currently chasing a single-digit handicap. My Christmas present will be a visit to TPI for a tee-to-green fitting.
