After 60 years of golf, I finally got to pencil a 1 on my scorecard this past Saturday. Happened during a sanctioned VGA (Veterans Golf Association) event. But the kicker is that no one in our foursome saw it go in since we were teeing off directly into the sun! (161-yard hole C7 at Hawaii Prince here in Ewa Beach)
I knew it was a good shot when I hit it. As as we drove up to the green, I figured mine was one of the ones lying near the pin. But my playing partners identified those as their balls so I started looking for mine off the green. After a few minutes of searching, one of the guys on the green walked to the other side of the flag to look at his putt and said, "Hey, there's a ball in the hole!" To which I responded, "If it is a Pro V1 with a blue marker alignment stripe, that is me!!!"
Happy to finally experience the feeling others know so well!
