On a typically cool sunrise back 9 at Tilden Golf Course in Berkeley I climbed the hill to the 16th tee box. From the blue tees the 206 yard 16th plays more like 210-215 with wind and elevation across a valley and back up the hillside. I hit a 5 hybrid towards the right front of the green clearing the front trap. I saw a bounce forward which meant I should have a decent putt to the middle left pin. My eyesight has never afforded me the luxury to follow balls all the way so I began a search once approaching the green. It wasn’t in the front right or left trap, I checked the 17th tee…nope. Well I thought, the thing to do now is check the hole.
