I have been playing golf since I was probably 5. As a an 8 year old kid I used to caddie at Burlington Golf and Country Club. I have always had a love for golf since that age. Life has a way of getting in the way of being able to play, job, kids family, cost etc. At age 57 I retired from a job I held for 36 years, moved out of a house we had owned for 28 years and moved 4,500 km's across the country to Nanaimo, BC. As quickly as I could I joined the Nanaimo Golf Club to finally be able to play golf when I wanted since I was retired. On July 7th my son Doug asked me if I would like to play golf on July 8th. I had been so busy moving into our newly built house that I didn't really feel like playing. He was going to be leaving for work in a couple of days so I thought, ok, I'll play. I was so happy that I did. We had his friend Teagan and my good new friend Dennis with us. It was an ordinary game of golf up until the 13th hole. This is the only par three on the course that you can actually see any ball drop so it was perfect. The ball flew, landed and headed towards the hole..........and, well, you know what happened next! We all went crazy yelling and high fiveing. The funny thing afterwards, Teagan for years has always walked up to par threes and said "hey, have you ever seen a hole in one" he said on the next hole, you ruined my joke! haha, worth it!!
