I have been playing golf for 54 years and this is my first hole in one. I had resigned myself to not ever having one. I don't know exactly how many rounds of golf I have played but I have played on more than 500 golf courses during those 54 years and many of them several times. I also play 40 to 50 rounds each year on my home course, Cape Arundel in Kennebunkport, Maine. I have played hundreds of rounds of golf with three friends over 36 consecutive years and none of us had a hole in one until I made this one. We have come close several times in multiple states and countries. I had never played the Eagle Creek Golf Course and only played it because it was the closest course in Missouri from where I was visiting my Mom in Oklahoma. I played it as part of my effort to play golf in all 50 states. I currently need 10 more. The 125 yard Par 3 12th hole provided a clear view of my ball landing on the green and going in the hole, which was fortunate since I know some players who report not seeing the ball go in on their holes in one. Although I never had a hole in one before this one, on May 19, 1992 I did make a Double Eagle on the 482 yard par 5 18th hole at the Shawnee State Park Golf Course in Friendship, OH. I hit driver and 2 iron from 210 yards out. I might make another hole in one, but I know a double eagle is not going to happen again unless it's a very short par 5. Thanks Titleist for my T350 irons.
