  1. Just curious if anyone has installed a backyard putting green. I recently moved to a new house that has a perfect sized area in the backyard for one of those synthetic putting greens, depending on size it could be $8-15K so not cheap, but could be really cool. I live in the PNW so rain is abundant. Anyone install something like this? Experiences? Issues? Thanks.

I installed one myself about 15 years ago. I bought the green off the big auction site and 4 cups from a golf supply house. If your yard is flat (mine isn’t), it’s pretty easy. Lay down a base of crush-and-run and compact it. Make sure it’s level and flat - one corner of mine rolls at about 12-13 on the Stimp!! Roll out the carpet and begin to throw sand on it. Black Betty blasting sand gives it a natural look. Brush it in with a heavy broom until about 1/8” inch of fiber is exposed. Cut in the cups, roll, and your water essentially good to go. Every couple of years, brush/blow it out, add more sand, and re-roll. I think I have less than $1,500 in mine and it’s still going strong.
  3. Thanks, here is my backyard
