  1. i have a set of 712 AP2s...are the 716s any longer? any info would be great!!

  2. For me, yes. They are about 3-5 yards longer consistently (currently gaming 716 AP2.) However, the biggest difference I see is on mis-hits... The 716's are a bit more forgiving.

I had AP2 712s and now have AP2 716s, for over year. Got them the week they were released after being fit. To answer your question, I would say yes they are longer. Not by much, but I definitely noticed a difference early on when I first got them. Is it the shafts or the heads? I can't say for sure, but the 716s do seem to have a bit more forgiveness than the 712s. I would estimate I am about 5 or 6 yards longer with all AP2 716s. (They are slightly stronger lofted than the 712s, by a degree or maybe two max.) Old PW was 47*, new one is 46*. Consequently, switched from Vokey 52/56/60 to Vokey SM6 50/54/58 when I got the 716s.
  4. I'm really missing distance in the long irons...maybe its me but my clubs go
    Pw.135
    9-150
    8-160
    7-170
    6-185
    5-195
    4-200
I don't know if its the shafts or I just don't hit the ball hard enough with longer irons but I feel like every swing is the same pw-4

Hi Payne, If you are going to seriously consider upgrading to new irons, then in addition to getting fitted for them, I would suggest that you consider the T-MB's in the longer irons (ie: 3-5 irons). You can get them "matched up" to the remainder of your set (presumably the AP2's).
  6. I agree with Dino. I have been fitted for my 716 AP2, but I just wasn't hitting the long irons far enough. Swapped them out for the 716 T-MB and it's night and day! I love the T-MB's, they're very forgiving, while providing a sleek tour-blade appearance.

No on here can really give you any information without your true numbers, seeing your swing and getting all the info... You have to get on a Trackman and get properly fit!
  8. The 716's are longer for sure. The Ap2's have incredible forgiveness and feel as well, defiantly worth the upgrade! You will see improvements in all aspects of your iron game, not just distance.
