I'm looking at getting a rangefinder. Sick of looking for markers then subtracting/adding depending on pin placement or angle.

Looking at the Bushnell Tour X or v4. Anyone have one of these? Or recommend others?

I have the V3 and absolutely love it. Plenty of them still in stores and at $250 they are a good deal.

The Leupold line of rangefinders could be considered. My GX-3i has worked beautifully and seems to go through far less batteries.

I have the Bushnell v3 and recently I demoed the Tour X for a round. I didn't notice any truly meaningful difference between the two of them. Plus, at half the cost, it should be something you consider. The best bet would be to try and demo a couple different ones and see what you like best.

Love my Leupold 4. Water proof, slope, have used it exclusively for the last few years. But I'm curious about the new Bushnell tour. I seem to recall a review in one of the golf magazines. Google the reviews is what I always do. I wish they would implement range finders on the pro tour. Can you imagine if every play in football they stopped to measure how far to the first down. Guessing yardages is slowing down play tremendously. Level the playing field for all and all range finders on all tours!

I used a Bushnell V2 rangefinder for years and when it finally quit I picked up a Bushnell Z6. I have been extremely happy with both rangefinders. I like the Z6 a little better because it has a more sturdy case and it has red lighted graphics in the viewfinder. This is certainly something you miss dearly when you are used to pointing, shooting to get the distance then hitting your shot. When you go back to looking for sprinkler heads with markings and pacing off distances you realize how fast the rangefinders really are and how much they help speed up play. Good luck and hope you find one that you like.

Thanks for the comments. Going to check out the Bushnell V3 as it looks like a great price point. Just want to compare the size to the V4 in store.

    Cheers

Leupold.... US Special Forces and SWAT teams trust their optics, American made and even better customer service.

    Grindelwald,

in my mind Bushnell is the best brand you can get. Very precise and reliable

I have the Pro 1M, but would recommend a smaller one, as the big ones need quite a lot of space in your bag

+1 for Leupold. My 5th season with a GX-3i and replaced the battery for the first time!

I have the Tour X and it works great. I like the option of being able to use the Red snap on front piece to get the elevation during practice rounds. When I originally purchased it was to replace my Sky Caddie GPS but more and more i find myself using both. A quick look at the GPS tells me what the distance is to the front or back of the green then use the Tour X to dial in the distance to the flag. Since putting both in play my index has dropped to a lifetime low of 6.9 so I'll keep on doing what i'm doing.

Another vote for Leopold here. Probably can't go wrong with any rangefinder but I love my Leopold. It will really speed up play and you won't be able to play without it. It'll ruin you for sure.
