Footjoy rain jacket-any recommendations?

    Even though my state is going through a drought, I'd like to pick up a jacket to keep in my bag for when I go to Oregon and Monterey this fall.  I'd like to hear your opinions on a rain jacket for golf and of course, I'm leaning heavily in favor of a Footjoy. Thanks for your input.

    I have the FJ DryJoy Tour jacket from a couple of years ago.  I LOVE it!  I've been stuck twice in horrendous downpours and both times I finished the round bone dry.  I couldn't be any happier with a rain jacket.

    I have the Footjoy DryJoy rain jacket from 4 years ago and it still works like a charm.  I wear it all winter here in the South to stay warm and it still keeps me dry after all these years.  I also have the footjoy short sleeved rain shirt for the spring/summer/early fall.  Honestly it is my favorite as the short sleeves help regulate the heat.

    I have had excellent results with all of the FootJoy products I have purchased. I have several different FootJoy rain jackets and pants and they have always kept me dry. Depending upon the weather, there are two current options in the Footjoy line. The Tour XP and the HydroLite. I prefer the heavier Tour XP jackets for the colder weather and the lighter weight HydroLite for the warmer days. I have also found that the FootJoy rain shirts work excellent and are a little less bulky to wear then the rain jackets. Good luck and, based on my own personal experience, you won't be disappointed with any of the FootJoy rain jackets.

    For pack ability, I would go with the FJ Hydro Light jacket.  Easy to get into and out of a bag while on the course due to lighter materials.  But if it is cold and rainy, then I highly recommend the Fj Tour XP series gear.  Will keep you warm and dry on cold wet days.  Good luck.

    As some agree, I would go with the Hydro Light. It's going to depend on your typical golf climate though, some of the jackets can get awfully warm since there is little to no breathability in them, so you may want to elect for a cut off sleeve if you can find a way to keep your hands dry in between.

    Good info everyone and I agree you will need to pick the level of warmth you need between the Tour XP & Hydrolite.  I was stuck in a terrible down pour last Friday and forgot to pack my gear!!  Don't be like me and always pack your FJ Rain Gear!!!

    Hi John, I have the FootJoy Dry Joy Tour XP rain jacket, and pants to boot. Regarding the rain jacket, it is very heavy duty and constructed like a good backcountry - outdoor rain jacket in that it is seam sealed with "sealed" zippers. The fabric is treated to withstand 20,000 mm or more of water pressure so it will easily stand up to the rainfall we get up here in the Pacific Northwest. The only issue for thought is whether it might be more than you need... if you do not play often in the rainy or damp weather, you may prefer to go with the Hydrolight version of the FJ Rain jacket. It's lighter weight, and keeps you cooler than the Tour XP version. If warmth will be an issue for you, then by all means go with the Tour XP version ... it is brushed on the inside for a feeling of extra warmth and the fabric is a bit thicker too. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with the Hydrolight, just maybe include an FJ midlayer underneath for added warmth. Without sacrificing mobility. Regardless, FJ is the best rain gear for golf (IMHO). Would love to hear how you make out too! D

    I have both the Xp and Hydrolite like a lot of people here, but first question is how much are you wanting to spend?   I bought a XP set on closeout and got a great deal.   The sales season will start pretty soon.
