The ones that are stamped refurbished-I don't like. Seems like they have been coated/painted in some way. Steer clear.

I would also caution against buying used as they could have been immersed for a while-detracting from performance.

I played Pro V1 practice balls until Titleist came out with the Tour Softs. I think that's an excellent ball and I highly recommend. I get a lot better performance compared to other balls in that price range ($30-35) with the Tour Softs.

They may be cheap, but you never know if they've been sitting at the bottom of a lake for a year. I don't know what the refurbishing process is like, but I do know any tiny imperfections on the surface can also be detrimental to your shot-making, and obviously they are not going through the rigorous Titleist QC process.

The best place I've found for inexpensive, used Pro Vs that are still in good shape is lostgolfballs, they have a grading system that tells you what condition the balls are in, and almost always have near-mint or 5A balls in stock.

There was a thread on this a few week's ago. My recommendation is to stay away from them. I have picked up several on the course while walking the edge of the hazards (my hobby when walking 9 holes in the evenings). Some feel heavier than normal, probably from extra paint in the "refurbishing" process. Some also seem to have a different dimple pattern so I suspect they are not even Titleist balls but just have been painted with Titleist logos. Get logo overruns or official "practice" Titleist balls if you are concerned about going through too many full priced ProV1's. Keep a box of the good ones around for those days you play the best courses. You don't want to be the guy teeing up X Outs on the first tee at Pebble or Pinehurst. :)

With the repainting and clear coat applied you don't know the true condition before resurfacing and you don't have the Titleist commitment to adding the coats to exact standards. Likewise, your collection of Pro-V1's could be from multiple releases (2013/2015/2017). At that point, you're only playing the name, not able to count on a consistent performance from ball to ball. Better choices are the X-outs from Titleist that didn't pass but are much closer to factory standards.

Yes once and that was enough. Not knowing what they have been refurbished from - sitting in the woods or a pond for a long time to me isn't worth the minor cost savings. You never know what you are really getting.

At $9.99 at dozen, you really cannot expect them to perform like a new ball. These balls come from lakes and ponds from golf courses all over. This a huge business. The are cleaned and refurbished. You are better off hawking them out of the water yourself and saving the $9.99. Just one opinion.....

Agree with El bandito... New or nothing! If you don't want to pay for a premium ball like the Pro V1 or V1x, then just go get some Top Flite XLs!
