I would stay away from "refurbished". Many are not even real Titleist, just painted and new name printed. The extra paint also impacts play. Start out with Titleist DT TruSoft for their most economic ball and once you can limit loses, move up into their other options or stick with it if you like the way it feels/plays.

If you're looking for new instead of used Titleist branded balls on a budget look at the DT Trusoft. I just picked up again after some many years away and consider myself a beginner again, am also on a tight budget and don't consider my skills good enough to game an expensive ball just yet. The DT Trusoft feel great and perform well enough for me. They are a little bit more than a standard run-of-the-mill "budget ball" but with the Titleist name you know you're getting quality.

I agree with the others that the DT TruSoft would be a good choice for you. I too am on somewhat of a budget and the DT is a great ball for my game and my wallet. It feels soft and travels a good distance. Another tip. I have seen the DT at Walmart for a couple of bucks less than a pro shop or golf store, but make sure that you look inside the box because I have seen where someone had switched out a different brand and put it in the Titleist box while putting the DT in a cheaper brand's box. I saw that same thing last week at my local Wal-Mart. Lifted the lid on a box of Titleist balls to find nothing but Strata VooDoo sleeves! Looks like someone swapped them out, bought a box of VooDoo's with Trusoft sleeves in it, all to save about $5.

Stay away from refurbished balls. You don't know what the ball maybe,it could be any ball with new paint. Try Trusoft or a Titleist ball that is on sale. Keep Golfing.

I would stay away from refurbished since they could be balls found in water and who knows for how long. If you’re on a budget I’d look for some good used balls.

I agree with the others, i do buy good used balls for practice and my son uses them. If I’m playing with my buddies or any kind of tourney brand new prov1

I played refurbished Bridgestone tour B RX the past weekend, ball performances well and and didn’t see any difference from proV

I’ve recently been playing Pro V1 “Practice” balls. They feel and play great. They run about $29 from golf discount.

I agree to stay away from "refurb". Lostgolfballs has been my go-to for when I need to fill a shag bag with 5A quality Pro Vs, some have logos, sharpie marks, or very light scuffing from being hit once or twice, but overall basically a brand new ball. When I play though I prefer to use new.

An option for new balls that are at a reduced price is the Pro V1 Practice dozens, retails for $29.99, and they are usually a mixed dozen of V1 and V1x sleeves, it's random. I used to be able to find them in GolfSmith when they existed, I would just swap sleeves until I had what I needed, but now it seems like they are only online, at least they aren't in any stores near me. The only difference between those and the new retail Pro V is that they are stamped "PRACTICE", and may have cosmetic blemishes that don't impact actual performance in any way, and they may also be prior generation.

I play used golf balls, but not refurbished. I started buying and picking used AAAA back in the 90’s when an store that imported used AAAA balls from sunny Arizona. Lost golf balls sells for a great price. I buy AAAA quality or mint and they are great. Sometimes you do get the odd ball that are not great for playing so they go into the ball bucket for the driving range.
But I do agree with most players regarding new balls.

Like TITLEISTUSER said, the ProV1 practice balls are a good option if you want a premium ball when on a budget. I wouldn’t personally buy refurbished balls.

This would be my recommendation on both points. Pro V1 practice balls and no to refurbs. I understand the budget constraint and this is the best way to play a great ball at a good price.

I go with the Titleist DT Trusofts. Kind of started with them because of the price point because I didn’t want to drop so much on Pro Vs just to see them lost but I ended up actually liking the feel of them. In my opinion, they’re a great ball especially considering the price per dozen. Recently got a dozen Tour Softs as a gift. I haven’t had a chance to try them out during a round yet though.
