  1. What’s the difference in how these are expected to play, and are both balls coming to market for sure?

  2. Tour Soft IS on the market.

I haven't seen or played Tour Soft yet but i think it will look and feel much like the NXT it replaces, maybe a little softer. AVX has a different dimple pattern with shallower dimples. Totally different feel. Seems to launch lower on drives but spins more on pitches and chips. Priced as a high-end alternative to ProV1 and ProV1x.

Both have been here in Fl. AVX didn't impress me, I want to try the Tour Soft.
  5. I moved from the cally Chrome Soft and NXT Tour S to the Tour Soft last season. At the time, it was for cost, as the Tour Soft was $5 less expensive per dozen. The price has leveled up though. But I usually buy my balls by the dozens in the off-season, stockpiling for the next golf season, and look for sales on websites. I LOVE the Tour Soft. I find it better than the cally and longer than the NXT. I like Yellow because its highly visible.

They are both available actually. AVX is still limited to Arizona, California and Florida currently.

AVX is a urethane cover and will likely be more appealing to generate stopping power on greens. The Tour Soft will otherwise be a good choice for players looking for a soft feel with good distance. ....And for sure is available.

My question is are they the same ball?

Totally different balls. Both are already on the market, although it still remains to be seen what Titleist has in mind for the AVX long-term. I'm guessing it will be formally introduced to the world sometime this year, or certainly by next year's PGA Merchandise Show. However, I don't have confidence it will be the AVX as it is presently designed. Maybe. Hope it it similar, because I have been really loving the AVX, even in the cooler winter temps.

It seems the TourSoft is replacing the NXT Tour. I have not tried them so can't speak to any similarities or major differences with the NXT.

The AVX is a higher level ball with proprietary urethane cover. For me, it seems to go further than my Pro V1 by a few yards when I put a good swing on it, both off the driver and with my longer irons (though any added iron distance could be as a result of my new AP3 longer irons). Trajectory seems only a touch lower, with more roll out. And, the AVX seems to cut through the wind better, I assume partially due to the shallower dimple design. The spin off wedges is similar to Pro V, but with non-receptive, half frozen (at times) winter greens right now, it's hard to judge if they are equal to a ProV. They do seem to be similar though.

I was surprised that the AVX was not on the new ball list for 2018. I got to play it when it first came out in October when I was in Florida. I liked it so much that I picked up a few more boxes! No one here in PA has even heard about the AVX, but it seems to go further and straighter than my ProV's. Nice feel around the greens as well. Kinda cool having a ball that no one else is playing!
