I spent a lot of time looking for golf balls. I would usually do this on my home course after a round of golf, or if I was playing alone, and no one was behind me. After falling half a dozen times, and tussling with briars I decided to recently stop. lol

I have found a few thousand golf balls, and give most of them to those who need them, mostly kids. However, I do keep the ProV1's and ProV1x's. Currently I have 43 dozen ProV1x's and 15 dozen ProV1's. I play both, but prefer the ProV1x for it's green side and full shot control. A couple of years ago I took six premium balls and tested them for six hours over a two day period...from chips, pitches, to longer shots. The ball that kept coming out on top was the ProV1x. This surprised me, as a player with a slower swing speed wasn't supposed to be able to hit a ball like the ProV1x.

I learned two things: first, the ProV1x is an outstanding golf ball, especially around the greens...I am now able to be more aggressive on chips/pitches, and full shots as I know the ball won't roll 10-20 feet past the hole, and secondly, that a guy like me (8.3 HI), can play a "Tour" level golf ball.

I practice my short game incessantly, and it's nice to know I have a ball I can more or less control. I shot a personal best the other day (72 -- par 70).

Getting back to the original topic, my ball hawking days are over. At 62 I don't need to be rummaging around in the woods, briars, brambles, for golf balls. Plus, I should have enough to last me for a while. :-)

You discovered the art of scoring. The short game. My ball is a ProV1x because I score better in chipping and putting. It also feels so good off the tee. From my experience in hitting different golf balls the ProV1x wins out. Glad you practice the short game so much. I am convinced that is how you lower your score.

I agree Gabriel. It has definitely made a difference. While it is important to get the ball in play off the tee, as amateurs we don't hit a large proportion of the greens on our approaches. A good short game can thus shave off a number of strokes.

Pro V1x always wins out for me too. Partly because of the control with the long game, but most importantly, the control and feel on and around the greens.

The 2017 model Pro V1x is the best ball I've ever played.
