  1. So for Christmas my girls brought me the Pro v1x by accident as I usually use Pro v1. I was a little hesitant as I believe in if it's not broke don't fix it. But I must say great ball yet again by titleist!! the only thing missing for me was that lovely soft feel you only get from a Pro v1. Has anyone else made this change and if so what are your thoughts on the difference between the two?

I switched a while back, where as before, I really didn't care which ProV I played. I like that the X is supposed to launch a little higher, as I was more of a lower ball hitter. I've found no disernable difference around the green with spin. I used to hit the ball with too much spin, and would end up spinning balls off the green, so that also pointed me to the X, especially off the driver, where I don't want want a mishit going to far offline with spin. In going for a fitting I told the Titleist reps that I had been using that I was using the Pro V1x regularly and the Pro V1 on windy days. They said I'd be better off staying with the X on a regular basis and be used to the ball I was using no matter the condition. So I'm an X man. Love it

Hi. I have played both and have switched from one to the other a few times.

Swing changes makes different effects on me with strength and touch. At times when I only relied on bump and runs as an example, I chose the ball that had lesser spin so I can play the roll out of the ball and decided with those predictions and vice verse.

To me, the general effects around the greens of a Pro V1 are much softer feel and it spins more than Pro V1x.

    Hope this helps.

I've tried both. 1x gave me a little more distance but like you said, the soft feel is hard to get away from so I'll stick with the V1.

BUT, the new V1x model coming out next year and from what i'm reading, it may have gotten a little bit softer so this should be interesting....

Hi SEvans! It sounds like you had a nice Christmas with your family! I used to play the Pro V1 up until a few years ago. Then I did the Titleist on course golf ball fitting (the "self fitting"). In this process, you work from the greens backwards to the tee, hitting shots with the two different balls (Pro V1 and Pro V1x).

While I liked the feel of the Pro V1 and it was my regular ball, I could not help coming to the conclusion that the Pro V1x performed better for me. I was getting even better spin and control on the ball to stop them close, etc. I have since become accustomed to the feel and characteristics of the Pro V1x and it is my "go to" ball!

Wait until you try the 2017 Prov1. Hands down the best ball ever. I changed from the Prov1X years ago to the Prov1 and have been playing it ever since. But the new Prov1 is very similar to the Prov1x based on all the feedback. I have hit it, it is long, lower spin like the Prov1x, and maintains that softer ball.

I made the switch about 6 years ago. I switched because I generate too much spin using the Pro V1 on my short irons and wedges. Since switching I have more control on approach shots inside 150 yards and I gained a few more yards off the tee.

I started using the Pro-V1 when it first came out back in 2001-2ish. One they developed the */x, it was that from then on. My swing speed is slightly higher and a steeper swing plane that generates more spin. So, the x is the ball and I like that solid feel off of every club + putter as compared to the softness of the V1. It gives me more confidence from tee to green.

If you naturally generate less spin, then the Pro-V1 is the ball for you to drop n stop. It naturally generates more spin than the x with its design. It's all a matter of personal preference any way. Most of the top tier balls are rather similar. I do believe the Pro-V1/x separate themselves from the pack though.

I went from the V1 to the V1x earlier this year for two reasons.

    1) lower spin off the driver and slightly higher launch gives me a few extra yards and my misses are not as penal.

    2) I found that the V1x spins a bit less than the V1 with my wedges. I kept having V1's spin back 10-20 ft and with the V1x it hits and stops on the greens.

I'm looking forward to hearing more about the 2017 version and seeing if Titleist makes the V1x softer this year at all. I do miss how soft the V1 is off the putter but I'll trade the soft feeling for better performance tee to green that the V1x provides.

I played V1 in 2013, then they made the 2015 V1x softer I made the change. I prefer the feel of the V1 with my irons & wedges, however the V1x was longer for me with the driver. I can't wait to try the new 2017 V1 models, from the sounds of it I may switch back to the V1.
