Today I got to play a round. Should be a great day right? Tee'd off at 3pm and started off with a par. A long par 5. I'm thinking, "awesome, off to a good start". Well it was short lived. I was all over the place.
To back up for a moment, a key piece of info was the equipment. Last night I cleaned out my bag (I have slight OCD about clean equipment). While doing so I forgot to put my balls back in. I was practice putting that night and told myself I'd grab them before leaving for the course. Whoops.
So I get to the course with no balls in my bag. After realizing, I head to the pro shop. I have never been to a course without Titleist balls. I never noticed before that they didn't carry them, or they may have been sold out. Not sure. Anyway, they have a sleeve of cally ChromeSoft's. I bought them.
Now, back to the 2nd hole (don't worry, not doing a hole by hole rundown). It all fell apart after the first hole. I never hit 1 birdie the whole round. I was all over the course. My driver is trustworthy to me. Very straight 99/100 times. But I could not hit a fairway to save my life.
I know the mental game is crucial. Looking back I don't remember the ball running through my mind. Perhaps I was just upset for leaving my balls at home.
Either way, I have a stronger love for my ProV1x's.
Has anyone else struggled like this after a ball change? Any ideas (besides not forgetting my balls ha ha).
Thanks all.
