My driver swing speed is 96-98 mph and I am a low ball hitter.  My launch is always about 11.5-13 degrees with a 10.5 driver (910D2).  My carry distance is 225-230 yds.  But I also do not generate alot of spin on the ball - low 2200-2300.  Two separate pros in my area have suggested I play the Pro V1 and not the V1X.  Their reasoning was simply that I need some more spin to get the lift and height to keep the ball in the air a bit longer.  But I also realize that the V1X is supposed to launch higher, but with less spin than the V1.  My handicap index is 5.7.

Thoughts - is either ball a good fit based on my numbers?

You certainly have the low spin that many people are searching for. The pros are probably right about staying in the V1. If it were me, I would try both side by side and see if you get better results from one or the other. I'm curious as to the shaft you have in your D2.

Since the head is adjustable, you can increase the loft by 0.75 degrees and compare the results. That can increase both launch and backspin. Apparently it used to be that the Pro-V1 had more backspin, but the 2015 Pro-V presentations on the Titleist do not support that off of the driver any longer.

    HI There,

I'm in the same boat as you, as I went from a 10.5 D2 to a 9.5, as my ball was peaking too high and not getting any roll. But I went and got fitted and tested a bunch of different shaft and loft combinations and finding the right shaft makes such a big difference. I gained some yards and changed my trajectory a bit higher, without losing yards.

In your current driver, did you get fit for the combo that you have? What shaft do you have in it?

People rely on equipment too much. Work on your technique, work on golf.

I agree, but I just wanted some thoughts on which ball would be a better match for my data.

I think maybe your hitting the ball with a 0 or negative AOA if you hit those numbers with about +4° AOA  you would probably get the ball flight youre looking for.  What launch monitor do you use to get your numbers?

I forgot to mention if you want to increase spin you can hit the ball lower on the clubface. That would increase spin a lot more than changing balls...  4mm lower on the club face can increase spin as much as 800 revs
