Effect of shorting shafts

    I bought 54 and 58 vokey wedges for my daughter with the lightweight Tensei red shafts in R flex. I would like to shorten them 3/4" but want to know how much that will effect the overall weight and swingweight of the wedges. She is 5'6" and regularly hits 200+ yard drives, so she can generate good clubhead speed for a 16yr old. Thanks, Louren.

    Shortening the shaft will decrease the swing weight. If she is most comfortable choking down on the grip now, you can shorten the shaft and adjust to her preferred feel with lead tape.
    For future reference, Titleist will build a club to your/her specs including adjusting swing weight with a shortened shaft for the same price of the stock component specs.

    Shortening 3/4" will decrease swing weight 4.5 points- adding 9 grams to the head wil be needed to restore to the original swing weight. The playing lie will also be 1.5 degrees flatter with the 3/4 derease in length- this may not be an issue. Remember if you do order custom from Titleist they will not adjust for any requested adjustments from standard- you will need to specify the swing weight desired plus any adjustment to lie you would like.
