Fitting results are in, not exactly what I expected

    Had my fitting today, and yes, newer tech yielded better results. But I was surprised by the recommendation.

    For background, my current clubs are 712 AP2 irons, Dynamic Gold S300 shafts. After 10 years, I know the shafts are no longer working for me.

    I’d taken the Titleist on-line iron fitting tool, and totally expected to be looking at T300 irons. But very early in the process, those were ruled out. Back and forth thru heads and shafts, it came down to the T100-S and the T200.

    A few things quickly became apparent - 20 grams is a lot in a shaft, at least for this soon to be 61 year old. And the turf interaction of the club design is huge for this sweeper/picker.

    Looking forward to receiving my new T100-S. The only question now, what to do about wedge gaps (separate post).

    Glad you were able to dial in your club without too much bias. It seems pretty common that people say they go into a fitting thinking one thing and end up in something different. It sure validates the risk of ordering off-the-shelf and custom from previous specs.

    You’re correct. I tried the on-line Titleist iron selector tool, and even when I mixed a few of the parameters, the T300 was coming up.


    Being able to try different shafts was key. I knew I’d be looking at a lighter shaft, just wasn’t sure which one. Only one way to find that answer - swap ‘em in and out! While the recommendation matched what I anticipated, I wasn’t sure if stiff flex still applied.

    True Temper AMT Red S300 across the board: 5 iron thru Vokey 56.10

    Coming from Dynamic Gold S300 shafts, I was expecting a lighter shaft. Was mildly surprised/pleased that stiff flex was still the call
