I've got the Nippon Modus 3 Pro in 120 gram stiff.They make in a 105 as well.It's as close to graphite in terms of feel and vibration as any metal shaft I've tried.

I actually wish I had the 105's;I'm 66 and 120 is about as heavy as I want to go.

An unfortunate truth is senior golfers need a great fitter more than the average golfer. After 60-65, it isn’t just declining strength, it is flexibility as well. It won’t be better in 5 years.

Shafts are far more complex than specifying a flex across different shafts. There is no standard for flex. A good fitter will look at flight and dispersion to suggest shafts to adjust flight and flex can impact dispersion. The Titleist catalog has dozens of shaft options in various weights and then each in multiple flexes.

Asking for free advice on a limited number of shafts preferred by a few respondents can miss a great deal of choices that fit you best. IMHO finding a fitter using an outdoor track and with a Trackman to confirm the visual results is the best approach. My preference is either a Premier location or a local fitting with a Titleist regional fitter “on their circuit”, f.k.a. Titleist Thursday.

What shaft alternatives are recommended.

The Titleist standard offering is a good starting point and the Nippon Modus3 Tour 115 reguar flex weights in at 117.5 grams, so close to your desired weight. As Don mentions there are no flex standards- shaft flex designation is strickly the choice of the shaft manufacturer using their own individual criteria and that criteria may even change between different shafts they manufacture. You would be wise to take all of Don's advice into consideration.

I can see your issue which is more common than you think for your age group. I would suggest Modus 105. It’s lighter by not to much where you feel like your losing control. It has a great feel and stability is outstanding. Hope this helps and you go see a Titleist fitter near you.
