While I was at the TT Invitational at Fox Harb'r earlier this summer I took the opportunity to try out some of the new Scotty Cameron putters they had on hand. I am one who has really struggled with my putting over the years to the point where it has been a regular thing to have 40 putts in a round. On those rare occasions where I managed to keep my total putts below 36 in a round I could actually score in the mid to high 70's. So - with all those putters available to try out on a practice green, I just knew I would find the magic weapon to add to my bag. I landed on the Scotty Cameron Special Select Squareback 2 38" Long Design. It just felt great in how it was balanced and with the heavier head and the counter balanced handle it almost seems to flow through to the hole on its own. I spent a couple of days on the practice green at my home course one my new purchase arrived and felt I was ready for my first round. I still had two 3-putts, but given where I was on the green relative to the pin position I was not at all surprised. I did however make a couple of 1-putts that I normally miss keeping me at the 36 putts for the round allowing me to card a 78 on my first round with the new weapon. I am sure that as this trend continues the other muscle involved in putting (my mind) will start to allow me to stroke with even more confidence and see continued and perhaps greater success ! Thank you to the two Ryan's and to Matt for pointing me in the right direction :) (hope I didn't miss anyone)
