Dan - I have similar issues. At the present time there does not seem to be an easy way for fitters to have different thickness grips as that would require a huge increase in the stock they would have to carry. Like you I do not use stock grips. In fact, I use Golf Pride CP2 Jumbo grips so my heads feel even lighter. Up until now I have simply added a piece of lead tape at the bottom of the shaft just above the ferrule. That is not the best way to correct the issue, but it is all I have. For my next set I am going to specifically ask them to weight my clubs based on the difference in grip weights before shipping.

100%. let me get into the science for a explanation... I am really into this stuff. I called Titleist today and he answered my questions.....

Ok for an example. T150 7 iron with a standard weight shaft (120 gram shaft) and a 50g grip at 37" (standard length) comes out to D2

now...

subtract 20-25g in shaft weight (KBS tour lite) removes 2 SW points. C9.5-D0 total weight (with 50g grip)

add a +10g grip and you are at now -2 SW points... so C7.5 (where I am at). They will "feel" like D0 because SW is an "arbitrary number" There is a lot of information both ways on this subject. am open to learning about MOI based club assembly. for arguments sake I could put a 50g grip on one of my clubs and I'd end up at the STOCK SW for my particular set up with 50g grips....

the rectification.......

You can add tip weights however every 2 g in the tip results in 1 cycle difference in the shaft. There are 10 cycles per shaft flex...

For me to get my clubs to D0 according to my scale I'd need 5-6 g. This WILL NOT effect the CG in the head to an amateur player HOWEVER for arguments sake lets say I had to add 6 grams... What that would do is make the shaft 3 cycles less resulting in 1/3 less of a flex....

Its a lot to wrap your head around... I read my books all weekend as I was really hung up on this this weekend....

I get you 100%. I hit them yesterday (see pic) and I am warming up to them. the lighter feel actually is giving me more SS but now I have a decision with my 54* S and my 60* M. the S200 shaft is way too heavy for me and I'm going to figure out what shafts to fit to these wedges.

I want my irons 100% tweaked and perfect.

Hope your golfs good... I played twice so far. 84 & 82. Played I march and April and march golf in NS is insane.

Wow Daniel - That was deep ! I had to read it a few times. I still don't get the concept of cycles and shaft flex. Fortunately - like usual, I will leave it in the hands of Ryan at the Titleist National Fitting Center to figure things out for me :) I shall leave it to the pros to help me out...

For me... investing the time into reading both sides of the coin made total sense to me... I think I have it now where I can understand it and yes it is a very large technical subject and you need to read it and think about it for quite some time .....

I hit my irons again on Friday and I will say Titleist was right. my 7 pro went from a forced 75 mph now to a smooth 80 mph and I can really feel this shaft "kick".

My new irons are absolutely freaking amazing. Totally 125% in love.

Heavier shafts in the wedges you use for partial wedge shots is very common.

I asked my fitter (he's local and amazing) and he said the same thing....however when I contacted Titleist directly they said to continue on with the KBS tour lite and KBS said the same thing (as I asked them as well)

They do need to play slightly softer though as most wedge shots are partial swings....

I'll figure it out. Definitely know stiff flex for wedge shafts for me is way too stiff....

Really looking forward to this golf season and hopefully shooting lower scores. End of the month can't come quick enough LOL
