So we have now watched two tournaments without fans... The Charles Schwab Challenge at the Colonial CC in Texas, and the HSBC Heritage at Harbour Town Hilton Head.
I find it a bit strange myself. The golf is still exciting as a golfer myself I can empathize with the players when they draw a bad lie or get a bad bounce. I think all of us on this site can feel the excitement when one of the players hits a great shot and the ball rolls up close to the flag. I find the silence a bit strange however given I am so use to hearing the crowds cheer and show recognition for a great shot. I think it must feel really different for the players as well. Imagine a silent course at Augusta ! Many of the pros have said in the past that when they hear the crowds cheering up ahead they know something good has happened and their heart rate goes up just a bit.
I know we cannot get the crowds back, and I really do not want fake crowd noises like a laugh track for a sitcom, so I am not sure how long it will take to get used to the "new normal"...
