I have always heard that getting fit for your clubs is important. It ensure you have the right equipment to help you take advantage out your swing and stature. As such I have been to see Chris at the National Fitting Center at Eagles Nest to get fit for all my clubs. It has certainly helped and even despite my shoulder issues this year, I have managed to remain at a single digit handicap. Today, I my friend proved the fitting concept beyond any doubt. He was always a better golfer than me, but typically there would only be a couple of points difference in our handicaps. This past winter I went with him to get him fitted by Chris who put him into some AP3's and a new set of woods to match his game. When he put his score in this afternoon, he achieved his life long goal and is now a zero handicap. Yes - he has worked on his game and practiced a lot, but even with all that practice over the years, he never managed to get that low. Congratulations Joel... A big thank you to Chris Welton ! It is so nice to see my friend reach his ultimate goal !!!

Are you still playing with that torn shoulder????? tsk tsk tsk....

Was he fitted indoors or outdoors? I went for an indoor fitting and I am not a believer in the indoor fitting to be honest. I've also done and outdoor fitting and that one I'd say is more true. The perspective of hitting into a screen is completely different than hitting outdoors. The mat also provides a bit of forgiveness opposed to hitting off the grass.

JKisson... Like you I have always been a little leery about indoor fittings, but the setup they have at the National Fitting Center at Eagles Nest is absolutely top notch. His fitting was done indoors at that location during the winter. Chris is an ace at his job and without a doubt set my friend up with the perfect equipment to take advantage of his skills :)

Jerome C... I went to see Mr. Brunton last season when I lost my game completely and he is a true professional. He got me turned around in only two sessions. I have to add that a lesson is only good if as you said - you take what the instructor gives you and you go out and practice practice practice.

    Great to hear Big Congratulations.
It is number one in my mind to be fitted first before your game will improve with practice and instruction (Henry Burton ) in my case .

I use to go for an inside fitting from one of the best fitter east of the Mississippi. Someone I really trust but my preference is on the range. I like the feel of the club going the the turf and seeing it actual flight. I know am using the titleist product specialist who has years of experience in this area and one I also trust as much. Just picked up a new set of T300s last week and they are the real deal. Was playing 716AP1s XP105 S300Ss and went with the AMT Red R300s.
My fitter said it was time at the age of 73 for me to move to the regular shafts. He was right, of course. Find you a fitter and stick with him/her. They are a game breaker. Second time out shot 79, with one triple and one double bogey. Hakuna matata.

Hmmn, perhaps I should go for a fitting as well... I'm still trying to get to a scratch handicap.
