I had the privilege of going out to play at the Magna Course on Monday following the CP Women's Open. What an absolute gem of a course. Signs of Titleist everywhere. It was nice to be able to select your version of Titleist balls on the range as the selection seemed endless.
Golf Canada had placed a small Canadian flag in the fairway (or bunker) where the Champion J.Y. Ko had hit her tee shots. Our group took great pride when we managed to get to a better spot or managed to outdrive the champion. Okay - that rarely happened but that just made it so much more exciting when we did. We were commenting on how pristine the course was following a big tournament, but then admitted that we were likely playing from areas the pros never saw. The greens were lightning fast which really gave one a much better appreciation of how good the pros are when they make so many long breaking putts and manage to lag those down hill putts so close to the hole. I was using my yellow AVX as the morning dew and bright early morning sun made it hard to see the white balls. I have to admit that on those fast greens the AVX was checking up nicely on many of my chips from around the greens.
At the end of the day everyone in my foursome had a new level of respect for the ability of the ladies on the LPGA Tour. And for those wondering - yes - the young 12 year old LIU beat me handily :) Many thanks to Golf Canada, Titleist, and all the other co-sponsors for putting together such a great day.
