Finish on Black Vokey's

    At the end of the season last year I bought a couple new black SM5 Vokey's (56 and 52). The 52 looks great but the black finish on the face and sole of the 56 is quite faded and now looks like the satin finish on other models. Is this normal? Anybody else seen this issue with black clubs?

    Hi Stephen

    For what it's worth, the black SM5's are the "raw" finish and will fade and rust. I have several friends with them and they buy them specifically for that feature.

    However, regarding the amount of fading, well I cannot comment on your specific wedge(s) and perhaps if it is a serious concern to you, then have your pro shop or wherever you bought it, send it back to Titleist for inspection.

    Titleist has always treated me well when I have had a problem with one of my clubs in the past - the service has been exceptional really.

    I'll stop into Golftown and see what they think. It's definitely not affecting the performance of the club. For me though, I just expected it to remain black....

    Yeah unfortunately the Jet Black finish on the wedges eventually will wear away... however like Dino said, they will rust and that's exactly why I bought mine!
