Stronger lofts will certainly increase distance which is something just about all golfers want. However, I understand that Titleist did not simply change the loft. The way I had it explained to me, Titleist also has tuned the CG of the iron so that an 8 iron may fly as far as the earlier 7 iron, but it will maintain the trajectory of the 8 iron in flight so that one can get better carry distance and land more softly on the greens.
This to me would mean that the combination should lead to better scoring once one gets used to the specific yardage of each club based on his/her swing.
I would imagine however, it would mean one has to add another wedge for the pitching wedge may be a bit long relative to the 912 series leaving a bit of a gap between the gap wedge and the pitching wedge.
Just my thoughts...

Alex,
Thank you for the question.
In regards to the loft variance between AP1 and AP2, we were looking for specific flighting characteristics for each model based on player feed back. One of our goals with the AP1 was optimium launch and distance; there are different variables to control flight and distance and loft is one of these variables.
