I was chatting with one of my fellow golf members today about notes depicting the breaks and grain on various greens today. We often find ourselves walking off the green "I have to remember that this green breaks up hill" or "this green never breaks as much as it looks" way too often. So - we figured we should give some serious thought to making a notebook of our various greens for future reference.
I am curious - have many of you done that at your course?
If you have - how do you start? Is there a set of typical notations or marks that should be used?
Perhaps if someone could share a picture of one of your drawings with notations that you use, it would give me a good idea on how to start. If I start now, who knows - maybe by the time this season is over I will have mapped out all 27 greens at our course.
I certainly appreciate any help on getting me started.
