    Hello folks,

Is there anywhere anyone knows of to verify if a Scotty putter is authentic by serial number?

I know you can search the custom shop ones' on Cameron.com but what about the regular off-the-shelf ones'?

    thx.

    Hello Stephen,
Unfortunately, authenticating a putter solely on the serial number is impossible as there is nothing stopping a counterfeit operation from using a 'real' serial number from an existing authentic product.

Here is a website where you can read more about counterfeit products and authentication.
    http://www.titleist.ca/customer-service/counterfeit-product-notice.aspx

As you noted, ScottyCameron.com does provide an authentication service however, it is normally used for custom shop or limited edition items rather than stock items.

A few tips on avoiding counterfeit products:

    • If the deal is too good to be true, then it probably is.
    • (For Golf Balls) Titleist golf balls are made in the U.S. and Thailand, not China.
    • If the goods are shipping from, or located in, China or Hong Kong, they are probably counterfeit.
    • Be wary of any seller that requires payment by person to person money transfer, such as Western Union. These types of transfers are not traceable and counterfeiters often use them.
    • Always check a seller’s feedback on auction sites.
    • Try to compare the product that you are buying against authentic product. If there are any differences, even slight ones, it is most likely counterfeit. We do not sell “seconds” or “blems”, so there will not be different versions of our products in the marketplace.

If you would like to learn more about counterfeit golf product, please visit www.keepgolfreal.com.

    We hope this help.

I have about a dozen COA(Certificates of Authenticity)... they display nice with my collection!

Do you have a special or unique putter?

    Hey Troy,

I was looking at purchasing a used one from a guy on "torontogolfnuts" and I wanted to verify the authenticity via the serial number and found out that was only available for custom shop items.  No worries though - bought a brand new one at golftown!!

    cheers!
