Hi fellow TT members,
What do you find is the best way to get the most
Accurate yardages for your clubs. Looking
forward to your replies.

Hi Andrew,Excellent question. I don't profess to know the best answer, but I learned the yardages with my old irons the hard way.. on the course by coming up short and air mailing greens. There has to be a better way.
I've been asking myself exactly this question, as I have bought new irons in the off-season. I found that the AP2s are quite a bit longer than my old irons. I don't really want to ruin the first half dozen rounds trying to figure it out on the course, so here's what I plan on doing.
Given that my purchase was done in the off-season, I do have info from the launch monitor at Golf Town. I had brought the 6 iron from my old set, and hit a few shots with it to satisfy myself that the carry distance it reported was roughly accurate. It was. So from that info, and from the data I saw after hitting the AP2, I have a rough idea of what a few clubs in the new set will do. I think I have the 6i pretty much dialed in, and it looks like I have roughly 10y between clubs.
Next step will be to take my Sky Caddie to a range where the different targets are marked. By hitting to those targets I should start to develop a calibration scale. After that... and once winter has finally let up, I'll be verifying yardages on the course with my Sky Caddie. Hopefully by then I'll know the yardages +/- 5y. I'm honest enough with myself to say that my swing isn;t repeatable enough to worry about having better accuracy than that.
I look forward to seeing what other people are doing.

Kevin - I am much like you - I take my clubs out to the range and practice hitting shots with different irons to specific yardage flags. I will often take (for example) a 9, 8, and 7 iron and shoot for the 150 yard flag. That gives me a feel for how often I can hit it flag high with each club using full and 3/4 shots to help me decide on my ability to maintain accuracy. It also lets me see the difference in distance between the three clubs. Hopefully I see the 9 come up 10 yards short of the 8 and the 7 10 yards further than the 8.
I can then repeat the process with a different yardage and three other clubs.
Darius
Hi Kevin and Darius,
Thank you for the quick reply. That was very
informative. I will be getting fit for new clubs next month
and will give that a try. Thanks again.
