Happy New Year everyone!
I'm interested to hear if others are doing golf specific work in the gym this winter, and if so, what you're doing. I was in the gym last winter too but I've changed things up this year in an effort to gain more power from the ground up. To achieve this, I'm doing more Olympic type lifts than I have in past off-seasons. I'm lifting 3-4 times a week and it's and I work through the following exercises:
- Power Cleans to develop explosiveness
- Heavy Squats to get strength and stabliity
- Deadlifts for power and strength - plus they're just fun to do!
Then it's a mix of military presses, bench press, pull ups and core work (med ball slams, side throws, Russian twists etc). I don't do a ton of cardio but I'll hop on the bike for 30 minutes a couple of times a week.
I'm anxious to hear what others are doing to save strokes in 2014.
