Hi Everyone,
I`m new to the forum but have been lurking, and learning for quite sometime from my fellow Titleist aficionados. I`ve recently upgraded my sticks from Old school 990`s I played as a junior to a new custom fit ap2/ cb combo set with kbs tour shafts and custom 48, 56, 60 vokeys to match. Unfortunately the great which north doesn't allow me to play them yet, but was out to the golf dome the other day and all I can say is butter.... ecstatic for the upcoming season! Being in the mood to start this season fresh with new sticks, I also picked off a 19 degree 910H Diamana 'Ahina 90 second hand to replace my old g5 19 degree hybrid. My question now is something to replace my G5 10.5 Degree Aldila NV 65s.
During my iron fitting I was also tested for the 913 driver, and simply could not believe the results. The Titleist rep mentioned that my spin rate was too high on my current gamer. My typical carry being 240-245 on his trackman. Being an accurate driver of average length with a smoother tempo, and this being the offseason, I couldn't believe the difference when he fit me into a 913 D3 with an Aldila RIP Phenom 70s. My spin rate came down into the mid to high 2 thousands( from mid/high three's if I remember right) great launch and ball speed being 150-152 I was gaining about 10 yards of carry on a hotter trajectory. The only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger is the price of the new stick. Having just shelled out the best part of 1800 on new irons and wedges it didn't leave 500 in my golf fund for the new driver. In searching a local golf forum a fellow has a mint 910 D2 head, wrench and head cover he's willing to sell me for a good price. I'm just wondering what route to go shaft wise... if Titleist will sell me a shaft with a sure fit hosel (because they are hard to come by otherwise) and what prices I'd be looking at if I chose to go this route in turn until the 913 comes down some. Maybe I should just hold out for the new stick, but after seeing that my old school G5, which I loved, wasn't helping me to the best of my abilities, I thought it might be time to step up to something a little newer.... thoughts? Is the 910 D2 9.5 degree a good option in the mean time? What shafts would people suggest?
Cheers,
Rob
Ps. Like I said I'm a newbie here, sorry for the long winded question, just love talking Titleist ;)
