    Great question Bilal!
    Here is a brief history...

Four men founded the Acushnet Process Company in 1910 in Acushnet, Massachusetts, one of whom was Phil Young.  The newly formed company was in the business of deresinating rubber and supplying that rubber for finished products made by others.  Over the next 20 years, the Acushnet Process Company built its own custom molded rubber products business, making such items as water bottles, bathing caps, and other rubber sundries.

Mr. Young founded the Golf Ball Division in 1932, forming two divisions, Rubber and Golf, in an attempt to make a better golf ball than those on the market.  Young felt that the golf balls of the time were inconsistent and frequently had off center cores under the round exterior shell.  In 1935, the first "Titleist" branded golf ball was produced.  As the company grew and expanded, the Rubber Division moved across the Acushnet River to a larger facility where it manufactured precision-molded and synthetic rubber products including gas masks, auto parts and o-rings.

    MISSION
Titleist is committed to meeting and exceeding the expectations of serious and recreational golfers worldwide by providing value added golf products and services of superior performance and quality that have a competitive advantage.  It is a product and market driven global company with centralized product development and supply systems, yet local market responsive.  Recognizing the ultimate competitive advantage is an environment that utilizes and develops the creative energies of all associates, Titleist develops goal directed work teams empowered to anticipate and respond to changing consumer demands and market conditions.

    THE TITLEIST NAME AND SCRIPT
The Titleist name and script originated when the first Titleist-branded golf balls were being produced in 1935.  Company executives were looking for a word that was synonymous with excellence or the best, a name that identified a champion.  When it was unanimously decided that Titleist would be the name of the golf ball and the brand, the company needed to develop a logo.  An executive suggested the handwriting of office secretary Helen Robinson who was considered to have beautiful penmanship.  Helen was given a sheet of paper and asked to write the word ‘Titleist.’  The way she wrote the word on the page that day is exactly how one of the world’s most recognized marks continues to appear today, gracing every piece of Titleist equipment throughout the world.
