With the calendar about to flip to October, and the temperatures struggling to find the 20's, it means that the 2012 season is slowly coming to an end.  Now of course there are still plenty of rounds left in 2012, but I thought this would be a good time to ask Team Titleist about their seasons, and in particular their best shot and best round.  What was your lowest number this year?  Did you break any scoring goals you set back in the off season?  What 1 shot stands out the most from the summer?

For me, the shot of the year came in July while on vacation.  I was 142 yards away playing into a slight wind.  I decided to hit a 3/4  8 iron, and as soon as it left the club, it was on a great line.  I saw it land right next to the pin and shouted "go in", and sure enough, the ball spun left and dropped in for a 2!!  It was my first hole out for a 2 on a par 4, and I was pumped!  It also took me under par for the round, and even though I finished +1, it was still the shot of the year.

As for the round of the year, that just happened.  Playing a golf course I was very familiar with, I played great the whole way, and just kept hitting green after green.  Even though I missed every birdie putt, I made an eagle on the back, and shot a bogey free 68.  (Par 70) First round in the 60's since, while, it's been a while!  It was nice to finally have all the pieces come together with my swing and shoot a great round.

    How about you??

That's a great story Rob. Congrats on the hole out. It's nice to see some positive results from my 2012 season so far. I was able to put in 30+ rounds this year. My lowest round was 74 and everything in that round just clicked. Shot after shot, fairway after fairway and green after green. It was all there. My goal was to break 80 and I have done so on numerous occasions.

As for my best shot this year I would have to say it was on a Par 5 where I had a great drive straight down the fairway. Then my second shot I pulled out my 3 wood and unfortunately pulled it right. Thought my ball was gone but I was able to find it in a horrible lie in the rough/fescue. With about 140 yards left I took out my 8 iron and went full tilt. As soon as I hit it I knew the line was perfect. Over a bunker it went and landed within a foot and a half. Tapped in for birdie which set the momentum for my lowest round of 2012.

Looking forward to hearing some other Team Titleist members 2012 stories.

    Cheers Shawn

The 2012 season was a pretty good one for me. First year competing in Mid Am and it was great. A little more relaxed atmosphere. As for best shots and rounds of the year. My low score of the year was 66 which included 6 birdies and an eagle at Cambirdge. But the best round of the year may have been my 2nd round at the Ontario Mid Am where I shot 71 in some very strong winds. The day before was just as hard and even though my ball striking was probably better on day 1 the putter let me down and I carded a 79.

2012 marked another feat for me. I carded my 2nd all time bogey free round which included 18/18 GIR which I had never done before.   The only thing that held me back was my putting which started to turn around when I changed to cross hand late in the season.

Best shot of the year may be some of the punch shots that I had to hit from under trees at the Canadian Mid Am in Vancouver a few weeks ago. It helped me turn what was probably going to be a 78-79 into a 73 in the 3rd round of the Canadian Mid Am.

Looking forward to getting fit for the 913 driver as I was limited to hitting a lot of 3 woods and long irons in Mid Am competition because I wasn't confident enough with the driver to narrower landing areas.

Not sure what my winter is going to be like as I have to take it easy with some injuries from this year. But hopefully next season will be even better.

    Congrats guys!

I've only been playing three years so my scores aren't quite as low as some of you guys. My best shot was a hole-out eagle on a par 4. Made a blind shot uphill to the green with my 4 hybrid from about 130 yards out. When I got to the green and couldn't see my ball I figured I had driven it over the hill at the back....after searching for about 5 minutes I decided to peek in the hole.....there it was. What a feeling! My very first eagle ever! I've also shot a personal best this year of 84. Next year I hope to break 80. Over all I'm pretty proud of myself, considering that I'm now 50 years old and have just started playing so recently.

My best purchases this year have been my 910 D2 (10.5*), 909F2 (15.5*) and 910F2 (19*).....need to save up again to get custom fitted irons now!

This is my second year picking up a golf club after quitting hockey due to a injury sadly. But I found a new love, I'm now a 10.2 HC and try to play every second - third day.

3-4 weeks ago I went and played a local par 70 golf course. And i am very excited and proud to say i shot a 2 under! I shot 1 under on both 9's. The first 9 i ended up with 1 birdie and all pars. The second 9 I birdied the first hole on a par 3 it was a 126 yard shot over a pond which i landed within 5 feet. I then went on a par strike on 11 to 14, then bogeyed 15. Which by the way was a lucky sand save. I ended up getting up and down and making 2 more lucky saves on 16 & 17 then on the 18th it was getting almost pitch black. I was about 16 feet away for birdie and the greens were really wet from the moister from it being 35-40'c out all day. I had a right to left that broke about 3 balls and it hit the far left lip and did a half roll then bluped in backwards. That was my best round of the year and i hope to have better ones next year!

Some pretty awesome stories so far on this topic. I'm glad to see that everyone is having such a great year. Its unfortunate that the season will be coming to a close. I've had a few decent rounds this year but my best would be on a local track where I shot a 84. As for my best shot it would have to be on a Par 4, after I pulled my drive I ended up in an ackward lie behind a huge towering tree. I then pulled out my wedge and went for the flag over the tree. I was able to land it within 4 feet giving me a slight up hill putt for birdie.

    Keep the great stories coming!

My best round of the year, a 66, came on a men's night at my home club. A fantastic score, but suprisingly my GIR's was not what you'd expect. I managed to keep it low becasue of some outstanding chips and of course I made most the puts that counted.

The 2012 season was a roller coaster for me. I showed signs of brilliance but failed to execute consistently in competition. A clear goal for 2013!

    Hi All!

I feel my best round this year was the first round of the Club Championship, where we played from the tips with some very difficult pin placements and some pretty challengeing weather over a three day long weekend.  Trust me, everyone had something to say about the course set-up not to mention the conditions we had to play in.  I thought to myself, why would they want to do this?  This should be cancelled to another weekend when the weather is more condusive and good scores can then be achieved and posted in the media with pride.

I was the oldest competitor at age 57 and was going against much, much younger competitors who possessed similar single-digit handicaps who could easily hit the ball over 300+ yards off the tee compared to my "Leave-the-ego-in-the-bag-and-hit-your-21-degree- high-bred-to-keep-it-in-play-shot" instead of my Driver.  Oh, and I did hit the driver, but only when it was warranted.

Problem is, being that this is a competition and these "flat-bellies" are highly capable of hitting it that distance, I soon found out that they didn't know how to keep it under the wind and they didn't always know where it would end up because this "fat-belly" helped in trying to find their golf ball in the deep dark woods on numerous occasions throughout the three rounds of play.

I shot a 73 that day and it was the low round of the entire Club Championship.  That was the best 73 that I have ever shot under the circumstances.

Can't say I had too many really good rounds this year, had a few 70's, and a couple 71's but nothing really special.

By far and away my best round, and best shot (maybe of my life) was at the South Muskoka Pro Am back in September.  The tournament starts off with a Mini Putt contest at Santa's Village.  I lit it up with a SMOOTH 78!  Which was good enough for last place by 39 shots.  I played with the Clubs GM, and long time members, had a great time too.  They told me this tournament is like the Par 3 contest at the masters, no one ever wins both in the same year.  Maybe it was a good sign?

On to the golf course we go, in the parking lot before the round I decided to put into play my new SM4 54* and 58* wedges.  I had installed DG spinners two days before and thought why not give it a shot!  What's the worst that could happen?

On to the round, I fired 75 to finish 2nd place which got me into the shoot out to decided the overall champion.

The shootout consisted of 3 shots, 100 yards, 75 yards, 50 yards.  It starts with 10 players, then 6 and then 3.  Order is decided based on score.  I was 2nd last to go in the first round.  Hit my 54* to about 8 feet, good enough to make it to the 75 yard shot.  On the 75 yarder I hit my Pro VX to 5 feet..... and like that I was down to the final three!

The final shot was 50 yards, off a down slop to a semi blind pin.  No big deal... Oh by the way there was about 100 people surrounding the green!

I'm last to go, first player hits his shot, thin 20 feet long, second player same thing 30 long.

    *here comes shot of year*

My turn, I hit my 60* comes off perfect! I can't see the pin but I know the shot is good.  The crowd starts to getting louder and louder!  Until I hear one loud ah, then more cheering.  I run up to the green and there is a Pro V1X sitting on the lip of the cup.

It was the most exciting thing I've ever been a part of on a golf course!  It was my first ever win as a pro and the cheque was nice too with a new baby due soon.

Best shot would have to be my near miss on a 150 par 3 in Ottawa, were i hit my pitching wedge and the ball hit the cup and popped out. Tough luck for me. My best round would be my 63 at our local public course!

Best round was a 73, best shot was a tie between driving a par 4 on the Heritage 9 at Heritage Point just south of Calgary, and draining the down hill double breaker for a 35 foot eagle.
