    Hi Mitch,

I have the 2011 (710?) AP1s, 4-AW, with Proto-T 75 shafts. I have an average to slower swing speed but am fairly consistent and smooth. My golfing buddies frequently comment that my irons look too short for me, that I'm "reaching" and am too hunched over. I am 6"1" and do hit very often off the toe if i mis-hit( my mis-hits are rarely closer to the heel). My current set was ordered standard specs from Golftown Canada. I was not fitted by a Pro.

I realize that it is best practice to be club-fiited by a Pro but that may not be practical for me. My questions are: first, I'd like to order 712 AP1s with Proto-T 75 shafts as really love how these shafts feel, really don't want to go to a lighter shaft (i.e. GDI Tour AD 65i). and secondly, any advice on choosing a non-standard shaft spec? I'm considering ordering +1" length, not sure if I'd need any adjustment to lie and don't think I'd change any lofts.

    Thanks for reading!

    Best regards,

    Andrew

    Andrew,

If you are happy with the Proto-T 75 then stick with it!

If you are unable to be properly fit,  I would start with 0.5" over length.  Anything longer can cause inconsistent strikes and ball flight.  Also keep in mind that when you increase overall length the lie angle plays more upright.

I would start with +0.5" and 1 Flat.  This should play close to your current set, with hopefully more consistent centre strikes!

    Hope the helps

Hey Andrew, just to jump in real quick, what city do you live in? There are authorized titleist fitters all over Canada, I would go for a fitting before I would blind order anything, especially with your height and lie angle concerns....I bought a 910D2 off the shelf but went to see a fitter here in Calgary and he tuned it in perfect! Cheers, Sam

    Hi Andrew,

Consistent with your Team Titleist Membership suggestions, we'd really reccomend getting fit by a certified Titleist Fitter.  While knowing your height can help, it is not the only factor that detirmines shaft length/lie.

Here are a few Titleist Certified Fitters in your area:
    Essex G&CC (Windsor)
    Highland CC  (London)
    Sarnia G&CC (Sarnia)

Also, if you ever happen to be in the Great Toronto Area we'd be happy to help you get booked into our National Fitting Centre at Eagles Nest.

While we would love to reccomond specs for you, it would be impossible to have 100% confidence that they are indeed the right ones for you.

    We hope this helps!

    Regards,
    Mitch D - Team Titleist
