Hey Guys/Mitch,
Let me start by saying that I have tried multiple hybrids over the years, starting with the Titleist 503H which was a pretty solid club but had way too much offset for my liking and I seemed to hook the ball too easily with it (which is the main fault for me with a hybrid). From there I have played multiple hybrids from other OEM's as well as pretty much every hybrid that Titleist has released. The 585H was a great club for me as it was less draw bias and created a lower flight which for me is what I am looking for as I tend to launch and spin the ball very high. Then I tested the 909H which was an improvement as I felt the sole was able to go through the turf a lot easier and stay squarer longer. However it seems to go left a little easier than the 585H. I have currently been gaming a 910H 19* which I have set to C1, so far this is one of the best hybrids I have had to date since it doesn't go left as easy and seems to be one of the longest of the bunch, however it just doesn't seem to go through the turf like the 909H did. The main issue I have with a hybrid is off the tee on shorter tighter holes I tend to shy away from it because I am scared it is going to go left on me. Distance and trajectory control with hybrids for me is a challenge due to the large amount of spin that I put on the golf ball, because of that, it is the club that gets the least amount of play and to me it seems like a waste of a spot in my bag.
For anyone that knows a little about prototype equipment from Titleist they may know a little about this club that I have acquired. The Titleist 503I was never released to the public and was a prototype that was designed the same time as the 503H (roughly 2005-2006). Not sure how many of them are our there but there can't be a whole lot of them. The club I have acquired is believe to have belonged to a former predominate Titleist Staff player who has won multiple Majors and numerous PGA and European Tour events. The club even came with this players spec'd our shaft and grip to what he still currently plays. This club is in the bag of a few pros on tour right now, most notably Gary Woodland, Kyle Stanley, Peter O'Malley (Plays 2), Peter Uihlein, and Rory McIlroy (rotates one in depending on the course). I have reshafted the club with a new KBS CTaper and can't wait to give it a good shot on the course next season. Unfortunately I woke up and it is just starting to snow again so this club won't see too much range/course time in the near future, but it will be in the bag for 2012.
Enjoy the pics,
Matt
